EDITORIAL
Reportedly, the last edition of ModelBrno was likely the best model show ever in the Czech Republic and surrounding area. I hope that the same will be able to be said in two years time. And if we will be lucky enough to have that dream become a reality, you can also be sure that we will do all we can to ensure that all visitors to our stall will walk away completely satisfied. I would like to thank the organizers of the event for their wonderful work, all of the visitors that helped in the success of the show, and to the patience exhibited at our, as it turned out, slowly flowing beer tap. I promise that the bugs will be worked out for a more efficient flow of the suds next time. On the other hand, as things turned out, the line up formed a rather pleasant discussion forum. I will need to consider a similar forum for E-day! The premier of our beer, the Eduard Mk.IX, was an unqualified success, and at the moment, we are trying to conduct a bit of a feasability study to support the possibility of making it available outside of model shows. If we come up with anything, we will certainly let you know. What had an even bigger response to the BEER GAME, involving the collection of coasters. These went in a cloud of dust at Brno, and at the moment we are printing the second series. For now, we are extending the BEER GAME to the end of September, which takes it to E-day. I also wont rule out the possibility of extending this remarkably successful game to other aircraft themed occasions. June saw us intensively focused on finalizing the edition The Boys are Back (Nasi se Vraceji). As you are well aware, there has been the soothing marketing campaign surrounding this kit, something akin to the campaign around the ProfiPACK Spitfire Mk.IXc Late Version. It was a necessity, given the marketing format of the kit and the relatively small purchase window. There was also the added complication of simultaneously dealing with two related items. The first of these was the issuing of the commemorative postage stamp in co-operation with the Czech Postal Service, the production of entire blocks of stamps, and also the postmarking of the envelopes, which are also commemorative and also done with the co-operation of the Czech Postal Service, and will be used on the first day of issue. We did not actually count on the sale of blocks of the stamps. More accurately, we did not count on the massive interest that this product generated. We miscalculated, and the
interest for the blocks, as well as the envelopes, was huge. Unfortunately, we have no exact distributing plan in place for these products, but it will be dealt with this coming week. Once it has been finalized, it will be made public on our webpage and on our Facebook page, too. The second related item to deal with, and as yet to be finalized, is to have a partial delivery of these items carried by an An-2 aircraft from Most to Prague escorted by six Zlin Trener aircraft. On board the An-2 will be packages that those they are destined to may pick up at Prague-Kbely. However, at this point in time, we can not say for certain how many packages can be delivered this way, or if Kbely will indeed be the final pickup point. As soon as these details are finalized, the itinerary will be disclosed in time for August 13th, 2013, including conditions under which you can participate in this event. If we can, in fact, put all this together, it will be a very cool thing to be a part of, and will certainly be worth it. So, if you are interested, keep an eye out for further information on our webpage, and I am expecting this to be by about July 15th, 2013. Well, its time to go on with July releases. Photoetched items are uncharacteristically few. July tends to be a pretty lazy month, so we thought wed be consistent. But, not to worry; August, and especially September, will more than make up for it! We are planning a very interesting and tempting list for September in particular. Photoetched items that are definitely worth mentioning for July would certainly have to include the fabric seatbelts for the RAF in WWII in 1/32nd scale. This line is quickly nearing the status of best-seller, and in the following months, we are planning to expand this line. In the Brassin line, noteworthy will be the B-17G wheels in 1/72nd scale. Although this model is not yet available, the sale of detail sets for it is in full swing. Almost as soon as we began to get these sets to the distributors, we had to begin replenishing our stocks, because
we had run out by the end of June! The same applies to the masks for the same kit. The main assortment of photoetched for this kit will come in September, so I am understandably looking forward to straining our production abilities at the height of the summer holiday season! Turning to model kits, we have reverted back to the three monthly releases. What is not so usual, though, is the release of two Limited Edition kits in the same month. The first is the F-15E Strike Eagle, specifically the Academy kit with the mandatory addition of our detail upgrade items, and the decal sheet printed by Cartograf. These really are very nice, and the kit itself follows in the footsteps of the previous F-15C. The second kit is a very interesting little number. As promised, after several years, we are making a return to the STRIPDOWN idea in the form of a photoetched kit of the Fokker Dr.I in 1/72nd scale. We have released this type in this format before, but make no mistake, this kit has nothing in common with its long lost predecessor. The only possible exception may be the plastic components, but even these have been modified. It should also be noted that this kit is much more user friendly as compared to the original. In fact, the kit goes together surprisingly well. This is something we have been striving for, and in a very determined manor, in recent years, and as an Eduard kit, it also looks pretty damned nice! Keep on Modelin! Vladimir Sulc
