com QUALIFICATIONS Im highly experienced in software programs such as iMovie, Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint. I have experience in QuarkXPress and Audacity. Im experienced in using social media as a leverage to develop stories. Im self-motivated and work extremely well with large workloads, fast deadlines and generating story ideas. I am into my third of four years for a Journalism degree in a 2-and-2 program through both UPEI and Holland College. You can visit jclaybourne.tumblr.com to see stories Ive worked on, including print, radio, layout and video pieces, as well as reference letters from the contacts listed below. EDUCATION September 2009 June 2011: Colonel Gray High School International Baccalaureate Program September 2011 May 2012: University of Prince Edward Island Journalism September 2012 Present: Holland College - Journalism EMPLOYMENT February 2011 October 2012: N3XT TV I gained skills in doing broadcast streeter pieces. I would have weekly story idea meetings with the producer, prepare interviews, organize contacts, set up equipment, conduct an interview, and edit the piece myself. I also hosted a segment called #CampusLife where I would take the concerns of high school students about University and shoot on UPEI solutions to their worries. I scripted the voice-overs and the entire segment myself. July 2013 - Present: Value Village Working in retail helped me gain skills in team work, compromising and how to handle different kinds of social situations and people. When customers become angry or upset by the service theyve been given, I have learned to stay calm, diffuse the situation and offer helpful solutions.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE January - April 2013: The Creation of COMIX - A Documentary In this project, I completed a half-hour video documenting a group of Holland College Media Arts students creating the very first Maritime college produced comic book called COMIX. The project started from the very first story-idea meeting and ended with their signing at a local comic shop. Outside of those profiled in the piece, I completed the project on my own. The project aided in my learning to deal with fast deadlines, large groups of people and creativity in video editing. February - June 2013: Reporter for the Provincial Homeless Report I did a dozen lengthy and personal interviews with people involved with bringing awareness to, attempting to reduce or who were personally effected by homelessness and senior housing on Prince Edward Island. An online version of the report can be found at: http://fvps.ca/sites/default/files/images/Report_Card.pdf March - April 2013: The Guardian Intern For more than four weeks I was a reporter intern at The Guardian. I worked both on assignment and pitched my own stories equally. I covered a variety of topics and gained skills in team work, time management, working on my feet and other additional reporting skills. October 2013 - Present: The CBC Intern Currently, I am interning at CBC where I create pieces for Island Morning, a local radio program that airs from 6:00 to 8:30 a.m. on 96.1 f.m. I took a lot away from this internship, mainly the importance of audio in journalism broadcast pieces. This internship highly increased my skills involved in audio editing. February 2014: Grand River East 4H Club "Shout Out to Agriculture" !Currently, I am working with the Grand River Easy 4H Club to produce and direct a promotional video for a national "Shout Out to Agriculture" program.
