About Osmania University

Osmania University, established in 1918, is the seventh oldest in India, the third oldest in South India and the first to be established in the erstwhile princely state of Hyderabad. Throughout its existence of over eight decades, it has shown remarkable progress and sustained an integrated development of all faculties. It has significantly contributed to the academic and economic development of not only the region but also of the Country. Its alumni have distinguished themselves nationally and internationally in various spheres of life and are spread far and wide around the world. About the Seminar

Global recession, competition and challenges have forced business enterprises to design and develop new strategies to survive and excel in their businesses. In the process of change and economic development of the country, Project Management plays an important role. Project Management is the discipline of planning, organizing, motivating, and controlling resources to achieve specific goals. While projects and strategy appear to be well and truly separate concepts, they are well bridged in organizations in order to achieve goals. A project manager is a professional in the field of Project Management. Project managers can have the responsibility of the planning, execution and closing of any project typically relating to construction industry, architecture, Aerospace and Defence, computer networking, telecommunications or software development. Key Project Management responsiblilities include creating clear and attainable project objectives, building the project requirements, and managing the constraints of the Project Management triange, which are cost, time, and quality. A career in Project Management is lucrative and it influences many upcoming graduates as it offers a wide scope of growth in their respective fields. The two day National Seminar at this level would give will offer experience and knowledge of different situations and methods in Project Management that might occur in real world and will go beyond what text books have to offer. The two day seminar will incorporate talks by eminent persons and paper presentations by delegates in technical sessions.

Papers reflecting theoretical rigour, indepth analysis of data and case studies are invited for presentation in the seminar. Those who would like to present paper shall submit their full paper to the Coordinator at sudhavepa@gmail.com on or before March 10th, 2013.

About the Department

The Department, established in 1962, offers Post Graduate and Doctoral programmes in Management both to regular students and to working professionals. The programme aims at moulding students into effective managers by providing them with courses reinforced with multi-faceted inputs of management education using state-of-the-art methods of training and active industry interface. The admission in the MBA is through a Common Entrance Test (ICET) conducted by the Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. About 2 lakh students write the entrance test. It has been noticed over a period of time that the State toppers at the entrance test join the MBA programme offered by the Department of Business Management. Similarly, the senior executives who are working in large industrial houses, including Multi-national Companies, have been joining the MBA (Evening) and MBA (Tech.Mgt.) programmes. The Department of Business Management provides affiliation to about 200 colleges offering MBA programme. In addition to those mentioned above, the department has collaborated with the following organisations / institutions through a Memorandum of Understanding [MOU], to offer tailor-made programmes: The College of Defence Management [CDM] to offer a Masters Degree in Management Studies for Senior Officers of the Army, Navy & Air Force deputed by the Ministry of Defence to undergo the LMDC Programme, The Sardar Vallabhai Patel National Police Academy located at Shivarampally, Hyderabad for running a Masters Degree in Police Management for IPS probationers among others.
