CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AT BMW BACKGROUND. BMW is headquartered in Munich, Bavaria, Germany.

It also owns and produces Mini cars, and is the parent company. of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars BMW produces motorcycles under BMW Motorrad. In 2012, the BMW Group produced 1,845,186 automobiles and 117,109 motorcycles across all of its brands. BMW is part of the "German Big 3" luxury automakers, along with Audi and Mercedes-Benz, which are the three best-selling luxury automakers in the world. CORPORATE GOVERNANCE IN THE BMW GROUP. For the BMW Group, corporate governance is an all-embracing issue which affects all areas of the enterprise. Transparent reporting and a policy of corporate governance aimed at the interests of stakeholders are well-established traditions within the BMW Group. Cooperation between the Board of Management and the Supervisory Board, in an atmosphere of commonly shared trust and responsibility, has long been the basis for managing the affairs of the BMW Group. The underlying corporate culture at BMW is founded upon the principles of transparency, placing trust in others and taking responsibility for one's own actions.

PROBLEM/DILEMMA There are two managing teams for BMW, BOM and SB and they work with each other by transferring information and they share the information to each other which is difficult to handle because the information might be leaked and the coordination among the different departments is difficult to handle. ALTERNATIVE OUTCOMES The work among the different groups of BMW was divided which enabled them to show interest in one specific field and thus in this way they minimized the contradictions that could arise by dividing the work among themselves. INDIAN CONTEXT In Indian context , TCS is a good example where they try to manage the company by dividing the work as well as keeping the system transparent and thus effectively handling the management issues.
