"he duel
As Grindelwald gained power, a public opinion grew that Albus Dumbledore would be the only one able to stop him Dumbledore, still haunted by his history with the dark wi-ard, procrastinated (ventually, the outcry became too vocal and Grindelwald's actions too horrible for Dumbledore to put off the confrontation any longer "he resulting battle was one of the most well known duels in the world, and one of Dumbledore's most famous moments, with Dumbledore winning the duel and the (lder $and's allegiance According
to (lphias Doge, eye!witnesses proclaimed it the greatest wi-arding duel of all time

$inged %eys
"he third of the &hambers contained several brooms and was filled with$inged %eys, provided by 0rofessor <ilius <litwick, which, at a distance, appeared to be birds "here was a locked door at the end of the room which was impervious to the Alohamora spell, and could only be opened by identifying and catching the one key among the 6flock6 that would fit the door's lock Hermione Granger cleverly deduced that the key that would open the locked door must be an old one, to match the old lock on the door "he only old key was readily identifiable, as Auirinus Auirrell had 'ust used it and bent one of its wings As soon as Harry 0otter, )on $easley, and Hermione took off on brooms to catch the winged key, they rest of the keys scattered to make the correct one more difficult to identify again Harry was, however, able to retrieve the necessary key, which was described as old!fashioned and silver, with bright blue wings
allowed to pass +n the end, )on sacrificed himself to allow Harry to capture the opposing %ing At the (nd!of!"erm <east, following the events of the attack, Albus Dumbledore awarded )on fifty House points for winning 6the best played game of chess that Hogwarts has seen these many years6

#inutes later, they were drawn to a clearing aglow with a silver light "here, they discovered some of the 8eela mascots of the Bulgarian :ational Auidditch team, surrounded by men drawn in by their charms attempting to impress them, including %night Bus conductor, *tan *hunpike (ven )on, who had shown a weakness for the 8eelas' power, was affected, claiming he created a broomstick that could travel to 7upiter After Harry and Hermione dragged )on from the clearing, the trio ventured deeper into the woods <inding a ,uiet spot, they decided to wait there for the commotion to subside, only to be interrupted by a deep voice yelling 6#orsmorde 6 "hey turned to see a green form rising from the woods +t formed into a green skull with a snake coming from its mouth> the Dark #ark *oon the trio heard the popping sounds of #inistry officials Apparating into the woods )eali-ing what was about to happen, Harry dragged his compatriots to the ground as the #inistry people fired off *tunning *pells Among the #inistry officials, Arthur $easley saw that his son had been attacked and called them off Bartemius &rouch *r , the most senior official present, stepped up and began to aggressively ,uestion Harry, )on, and Hermione $hen they pointed to the spot where they had heard the voice coming from, the officials found $inky, the &rouch family House!elf $hen it was posited that the elf could not have cast the spell,&edric Diggory's father, Amos presented a wand the the elf had been carrying $hen Harry saw the wand, he ,uickly claimed it as his own, drawing accusations from Amos Diggory Diggory came to his senses when challenged by Arthur $easley and returned to ,uestioning the house! elf "his ,uestioning was ,uite harsh, and Diggory continually referred to $inky as 6elf 6 $inky denied casting the Dark #ark, and Arthur $easley supported her, stating that it was highly unlikely that the elf knew the incantation "his caused Diggory to impulsively accuse &rouch, but this was ,uickly brushed aside with indignation Harry, Hermione, and )on corroborated $inky's denial claiming that a deeper human voice cast the curse At this, &rouch searched the woods, and when he returned he sacked $inky for failing to honour her family
way, he manipulated Bertha 7orkins into 'oining him, and brought her before the Dark 9ord <rom her, 8oldemort learned of the "riwi-ard "ournament and of Bartemius &rouch 7r , and concocted a plan to restore his physical form and reunite with his Death (aters
"he 0lan
9ord 8oldemort planned to use Harry 0otter's blood as part of a dark potion that would return him to his body, assuming correctly that the use of 0otter's blood would override the protection afforded to Harry by his mother's sacrifice, and allow 8oldemort to touch Harry without experiencing excruciating pain ;n 8oldemort's orders, Bartemius &rouch 7r , who had been recently freed of his father's +mperius &urse, kidnapped Alastor #oody and took his place as temporary Defence Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts *chool of $itchcraft and $i-ardry using 0oly'uice 0otion Holding #oody captive in his own trunk, &rouch confunded the Goblet of <ire into believing four schools were participating in the "riwi-ard "ournament and declaring Harry one of the &hampions

"he Duel
8oldemort ordered Harry to bow to him, then performed the &ruciatus &urseand the +mperius &urse, though Harry was able to resist the latter and duck behind a grave stone 8oldemort screamed, 6Avada 1edavra6 'ust as Harry yelled, "23pelliarmus6D the spells collided, and the wands' twin cores caused the rare 0riori +ncantatem effect Both wands connected through 'ets of light colored by their respective spells, with 8oldemort's green %illing &urse struggling to overpower Harry's red Disarming charm, and eventually failing As criss!crossing golden beams of light surrounded the duelists, holding the surrounding Death (aters at bay, echoes of $ormtail's silver hand, &edric Diggory, Bertha
