An oil and gas industry delegation from the United Kingdom will visit Tanzania from the 10 th 11th February 2014 to e !lore the growing investment o!!ortunities for "ritish businesses in the #ountry$ This is a %oint trade mission led by &#ottish 'evelo!ment (nternational )&'(* and the +nergy (ndustries ,oun#il )+(,* and it is the first time they are visiting Tanzania$ &'( and +(, will be a##om!anied by -4 #om!anies re!resenting a #ross se#tion of the UK oil and gas industry$ The UK Trade and (nvestment )UKT(* 'e!artment at the "ritish .igh ,ommission in 'ar es &alaam will host the trade delegation$ The aim of the mission is to identify o!!ortunities in the mar/et and strengthen e isting or establish new business relationshi!s$ 'uring their visit0 the delegates will have an o!!ortunity to meet with the 1inistry of +nergy and 1inerals )1+1* and Tanzania 2etroleum 'evelo!ment ,or!oration )T2',* to understand better the #ountry3s oil and gas industry and the o!!ortunities$ The visiting UK #om!anies will also have an o!!ortunity to meet with lo#al Tanzanian #om!anies within the oil and gas and #om!limentary4#ross #utting se#tors to dis#uss o!!ortunities in the oil and gas industry and areas of future #ollaboration$ The delegates will also re#eive briefings from the "ritish .igh ,ommissioner0 .er + #ellen#e0 'ianna 1elrose0 Tanzania (nvestment ,entre )T(,*0 'eloitte and 'F(' Tanzania$ The mission members will also meet with re!resentatives of oil and gas #om!anies in Tanzania$ Tanzania is a growing mar/et with on5going e #iting dis#overies0 16 e !loration blo#/s and U& 710520bn investment !ro%e#ted for e !loration and !rodu#tion in the #oming de#ade$ 8ver the !ast two years0 e !loration a#tivities in Tanzania3s dee! offshore waters led to the dis#overy of 49 trillion #ubi# feet )t#f* of natural gas0 and more is to #ome as drilling #am!aigns #ontinue to unfold$ (t is estimated that the re#overable reserves will more than double to 100 t#f by the year 2019$ UK #om!anies are the leading !layers in the oil and gas se#tor in Tanzania$ 8ut of 12 offshore dee! water blo#/s 4 are "ritish o!erated or owned0 with a 90: UK sta/e in two others$
