Objectives

Science 1

Materials: copy of the Hokey Pokey song, sounds of different objects (cymbals, whistles, drums)

At the end of the 60-minute period, the pupils will be able to: A. identify the five sense organs; B. recognize that body parts work together to perform a specific activity; and C. appreciate how the different body parts work together to help them do different activities.

III.

Lesson Proper

A. Procedure 1. Review What are the main body parts? 2. Motivation Let the pupils sing the Hokey Pokey song. Then call some volunteer to lead the class in singing the song with actions. Ask the following questions: a. What are the body parts we used in singing the song and doing the dance step? b. What do you think will happen if one of your body parts is not working well? c. What can you do if one of your body parts is not working well? 3. Presentation Have the pupils do Sci-tionary. List down on the board their answers (eye, limbs, neck, sense organs) 4. Discussion Call on some pupils to demonstrate an activity in class such as cooking, washing dishes, and taking a bath. Have the pupils identify the sense organs

Subject Matter Topics: Lesson 1 Parts of the Body Science Concepts: The five sense organs are the eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and skin. These sense organs refer to body parts that make a person see, hear, smell, taste, and feel things. Body parts work together to help people do different activities. Values: Understanding the importance of sense organs in doing their daily activities; show respect and love to the disabled/handicapped persons; appreciate how the different body parts work together to help them do different activities. and body parts that work together to perform the task. Discuss the important concepts in Feed your mind. Discuss the five sense organs and how body parts work together to perform a task.

8. Evaluation Answer the Brain Challenge on page 6 Short Quiz No. 2

IV.

Assignment Draw on a bond paper at least two things that they do regularly at home and list down the body parts they use for these activities

5. Experimentation/Laboratory Activities Group the pupils and have them do the activity in Science in Action (What Will Happen If I Lose My Sight? Answer the activity sheet L2 A2 Your Body Parts Work Together 6. Generalization Ask: What are the five sense organs? How do the parts of your body work together? How do these parts help you in doing your work? 7. Synthesis Ask the pupils what body parts are used most of the time and let them explain their answer. Lead them to explaining the importance of these body parts in doing their daily activities. Ask the pupils to observe their classmate and describe the activities they do in class. Have them list down the body parts that his/her classmate uses in doing those activities.
