IS CHRISTMAS THE BIRTHDAY OF THE MESSIAH?

Time for making merry again. But it makes me sad that the merry is
coupled to the pagan traditions in the name of the saviour. That too as a
birthday of the saviour. The whole world shouts on top of it's voice to prove
that they are advanced than ever. But when it comes to the spiritual bliss
they go back and as deep as the scriptures condemn them. Before making
your christmas merry ,try to learn some facts .
The choice of Dec 25th was probably influenced by the fact that, on
this day the Romans celebrated the 'MITHRAIC' feast of the SUN God.
(Natalis Solis Invicti)- Collier's Encyclopedia.
In the Roman world the Saturnalia was a time of merry making and
exchanging of gifts.December 25th was also regarded as the birthdate of
the Iranian mystery God, Mithra, The Sun of righteousness.- Encyclopedia
of Britanica.
It was not until the middle of the 4th century.c.e. that the birth of the
Messiah was officially celebrated at the time of year when the lighting of
fires, the praising of the new Sun ......relaxationand feasting was set on the
very same date as that of the birth of the Sun God 'Mithra'.- A Book Of
Christmas by William Sansom.
Mithraism:
The worship of Mithra shared many similarities with the newer
christian ceremonies. There was Sun day worship and The God himself
was born on December 25th.
December 25th was not called as christmas till 9th century.Until then it had
been the Mid Winter Feast, a combination of the Norse Yule Festival and
the Roman Saturnalia, both which took place in late December.
25th December was the date of a Roman pagan festival inaugurated
in 274 as the birthday of the unconquered Sun, which at the winter solstice
begins again to show an increase in light. Some time before 336 ,the church
in Rome ,unable to stamp out this pagan festival, spiritualized it as the
feast of the Nativity of the Sun of righteousness.- The New International
Dictionary Of The Christian Church.
Christmas was originally a pagan festival ,is beyond all doubt. The
time of the year ,and the ceremonies with which it is still celebrated ,prove
it's origin. In Egypt, the Son of Isis ,the Egyptian title for the queen of
heaven ,was born at this vey time, about the time for the winter solstice.
The very name by which Christmas is popularly known among our
selves,'Yule Day',proves at once it's pagan and Babylonian origin."Yule" is
the Chaldee name for an infant or little child, and as the 25th of December
was called by our pgan anglo-saxon ancestors, Yule Day,or Child's Day.
Therefore ,the 25th of December ,the day that was observed at Rome as the
day when the Victorious God reappeared on earth, was held at 'The Natalis
inricti solis' , the birthday of the unconquered Sun.- Book Of Two Babylons
by Alexander Hislop.
Although there are various theories on the selection of December
25th ,the most widely accepted is that this date had already been a major
pagan festival, that of "Sol Invictus" , the birth of the 'unconquerable Sun',
marking the winter solstice.( the Sun's triumph over darkness). With the
triumph of christianity , Christmas replaced the pagan festival.- Harper's
Bible Dictionary.
