Lets please discuss (with Muhammad) about your understanding in regard to MEP communication with the client and further MEP procedure. Please try to see it from my point of view for the working process. The previous emails from Khan to the client show clearly, that the current work flow is not feasible for this project. This cannot be in the interest of the office. With this project, we face several specialized conditions and constraints, not only for PORSCHE but also for the existing site and buildings, last but not least the construction phases meanwhile the running showroom and workshop. Keep in mind, we are taking about a 16.000sqm project, split in new and existing buildings and refurbishing. As an architect, Khan is not skilled to coordinate or decide MEP issues with the client, nor is it his task on the working level. As a generalist an architect is not able to work out customized MEP solutions, especially not in this complicated ensemble. No question, he shall finally communicate in general the system, previously worked out by the MEP. His task is to coordinate the MEP proposals with you and support wise with the client. In relation to your below mentioned MEP themes, I agree with you to this points that we shall move forwards in solutions asap. From my angle tasks for the MEP are clearly set from the architectural side. The systems to be implemented are given by the client, so as per the PDD for PORSCHE. All geometries are given by the architecture and the structural system, which is state of final detailing. If there are MEP products and systems not working out as per SATA or PORSCHE (PDD) standard, due to many building or height constraints, I would expect the MEP department to carve out these problems on the working level and propose workable MEP solutions to Khan and me, for further procedure with the client. I hope you agree on the point, that it can hardly be Khan`s task to invite or communicate with MEP manufacturer or supplier or chair these meetings. Regarding electric, I see various things to be fixed with the client, such as primary power supply figures (split?) for SATA and for PORSCHE, failure safety (eg. server, work lifts, fall back options), phases during construction with impact on all layouts. I can hardly image that these topics are cleared and decided with the client yet. If so, I will be happy to check them on plausibility. Mr. Nasser has requested a MEP meeting since more than 1 year, to brief us about customized SATAs and PORSCHE-use requirements. Not to transport 2nd hand misunderstandings, I propose to follow up his request for the MEP meeting asap. If nowbody is asking, we are shifting problems to later phases. Last but not least, as I just received an email talking about contractual extension, tendering by us, the quality aspect of project working phases has to be raised to the project responsible persons. Hi Chris, We will discuss all the matters with Mr.Nasser through Khan. The query list I prepared, looks only mechanical as Suresh did not have any to be included in the list as he has already discussed matters relating to Electrics, according to him. Also there are other aspects which are indirectly affecting us, the water re-cycling system for car wash and centralized vehicle exhaust extract system. Khan has given me some information on the former (Recycling system) but that is very commercial and basic. The proposal should be based upon the requirements. Khan indicated he would arrange a meeting with Water Recycling System vender. Also I suggest we should have the same approach for the Extract System, Compressed air system, oil piping system, etc which are car related to Car Repairs. I propose you meet Mr. Nasser for MEP issues as requested by the client long time ago. To discuss single points in emails is not feasible and time or cost efficient for our house to follow up. E.g. if we talk about a floor sockets system in the new building, we shall not forget the existing building, also in the upper floors with the offices, which is nor reflected in the PDD. MEP issues shall be bundled if necessary to be forwarded to the client through Khan or any other participant. The MEP-query lists are fine, but will hardly cover all their requests or issues we would like to finish. As there was no MEP meeting with the client for this content solely till now, I propose you find a meeting agreement with them on the working level for the MEP departments electrical and mechanical asap. Please let us know, if this feedback can be provided to us by tomorrow morning, 12 June 2013 ? We appreciate your consideration on this issue. Also, as discussed during the discussion of the PDD, the power sockets were requested by SATA to be installed on the walls rather than the floor ?(as given in the PDD). We recommend to install the floor recessed sockets in open plan offices for a more efficient conduit system. Thank you.
