ALCATEL-LUCENT 9365 BSR GATEWAY

BASED ON ATCA V2
RELEASE BCR 3.0

The Alcatel-Lucent 9365 Base Station Router (BSR) Gateway is a key component of the industry-leading Alcatel-Lucent 9360 Small Cell solution. It controls and manages the small cell access points within a W-CDMA network. The 9365 BSR Gateway, based on Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture (ATCA) version 2, the selected technology for Alcatel-Lucent products, provides high capacity and scalability coupled with eld-proven reliability. By supporting Alcatel-Lucent small cells for the home, ofce, and public places, the BSR Gateway enables quick entry into these market segments, reducing small cells deployment costs and simplifying network operations.

With 3GPP compliant interfaces, the 9365 BSR Gateway easily integrates into any mobile service providers (MSP) 3G network and appears as a virtual Radio Network Controller (RNC) to the mobile switching center (MSC) and Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN). The BSR Gateway offers exible deployment options, and not only integrates the signaling, voice and packet gateways onto a single hardware platform, but also the AAA/ AAA Proxy capability and optionally the Domain Name System (DNS)/Time of Day (TOD) function. The 9365 BSR Gateway may also distribute trafc to a single MSC and SGSN, MSC and SGSN pools, or to multiple MSCs and SGSNs that are not congured in pools.

Seamless mobility and simultaneous voice and data service continuity with macro network Applications enablement with presence application programming interface (API) and Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) interface to presence server Internet traffic breakout with direct tunneling to the Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN)

BENEFITS
Reduces capital expenditure (CAPEX) and operating expenditure (OPEX) costs Offers carrier-grade availability and reliability Avoids malicious attacks by ensuring that only legitimate users and small cell access points communicate with the 9365 BSR Gateway Easily integrates into any W-CDMA network Offers network deployment flexibility Enhances end-user quality of experience (QoE) Enables the development of value-added, innovative services based on location, presence, quality of service (QoS), and trusted security

FEATURES
High capacity, highly scalable platform, supporting up to 384,000 small cell access points Fully redundant architecture with no single point of failure Security hardened platform 3GPP compliant interfaces, including Iuh, for communicating with core network elements and small cell access points Flexible Iu Flex interface, supporting both 3GPP standard as well as a proprietary mode that does not require the core network nodes (that is, the MSCs and SGSNs) to be congured in pools

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Capacity
Supports up to 384,000 small cell access points on 6 small cell clusters (a group of small cells, together with supporting network elements, which has an interface to the legacy core network)

Electrical characteristics
Power inputs: Two redundant accesses Input voltage: -40.5 V DC to -72 V DC (-48 V DC to -60 V DC nominal) Power consumption: 3340 W (typical power consumption for a fully congured system)
