THE ORGANIZATION The Fund for Global Human Rights is a leading supporter of on-theground human rights groups around the world. Dedicated to finding and funding the most effective human rights defenders in countries from Africa to Southeast Asia to Latin America, the Fund for Global Human Rights has grant-making and capacity-building programs to ensure the long-term effectiveness and viability of frontline human rights groups working in challenging conditions with scant resources. Since 2002, the Fund has awarded over 27 million to more than 350 human rights organizations around the world. Grantees work on a wide range of issues from indigenous land rights in Guatemala, to womens rights in Morocco, to accountability for war crimes in West Africa, to discrimination against HIV positive people in India. For more information, please visit www.globalhumanrights.org. THE POSITION The Fund seeks a staff member to play a key role in the fundraising and communications efforts of the organization. The successful candidate will work closely with the Director of the London Office and the Vice President for Strategy and External Relations, and have the opportunity to participate in a wide scope of fundraising and marketing activities. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with excellent professional and academic credentials and a strong fundraising background. Applicants should have a passion for the issues surrounding the Funds international human rights work. The Fundraising Officer will be based in London, and will travel internationally, primarily to the U.S., several times a year. He or She will report to the Vice President for Strategy and External Relations, and will be part of a five-person team dedicated to fundraising and communications. The Fund currently has a 6.8 million budget. The Fundraising Officer will have the option of working from home or from the Funds office in West London. The Fund is open to part-time work (approximately 25 hours/week) for more experienced candidates. Salary will be commensurate with experience. The role includes the following core responsibilities:

Contributing to the development of a comprehensive three to five year fundraising strategy for the Fund, including UK and Europe Identifying new sources of charitable income Developing strategic approaches to a wide range of donors, including trusts and foundations, high net worth individuals, governments and bilateral donors Creating efficient systems to assist with donor and trustee relations Implementing a robust donor stewardship programme Writing proposals and reports Writing blog posts, newsletter articles and other donor engagement pieces Organising fundraising events Liaise with Funds finance staff regarding budgets, expenses and income forecasts

Other responsibilities may be added depending on experience and need. Candidates will need to demonstrate a range of core competencies, such as: Exceptional writing skills and passion for good writing Knowledge of international human rights issues Ability to work both as part of a global team and independently Excellent relationship skills; ability to manage and nurture relationships both internally and externally Good organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines

Candidates should possess the following experience and qualifications: Educated to degree level or equivalent At least five years of fundraising experience, with exposure to trusts and foundations, major gifts, government and bilateral funding Experience with donor stewardship programmes and fundraising best practice Track record of delivering projects; experience with project management Demonstrated commitment to human rights and social justice issues Experience studying or working in the global south and fluency in a second language are a plus
