Dear Friends & Family, Impilo! Or Cheers in Xhosa!

I hope this letter finds you and your loved ones happy and healthy. This up and coming August I am heading off to Law School. Before I have to completely bury myself in a law library for three years, I am eagerly preparing to embark on an adventure that will take me far from the comforts of my home. On June 16th I will be traveling to the impoverished townships outside of Cape Town, South Africa with a group of other students. I have no doubt that this will be the experience of a lifetime. After an extensive application and interview process, I have been accepted to join the studentled non-profit organization called One Heart Source (OHS). For four weeks I will be moving to these impoverished townships in South Africa to live and work. As a volunteer, I am joining OHS in the fight against HIV and AIDS, poverty, and lack of education in South Africa. One Heart Source is a non-profit founded in 2008 on the belief that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. In that year, UNAIDS estimated that there were nearly 2.4 million orphaned children in Tanzania, at least 1 million of whom were orphaned as a result of HIV/AIDS. The One Heart Source Childrens Welfare Center was developed as a direct response to this crisis, establishing a place of peace, learning, and family for abandoned and orphaned children. In the five years since its inception, OHS has expanded with an educational arm aimed at breaking the cycle of vulnerability and injustice. This branch of OHS functions as volunteer-led education programs in Tanzania and South Africa designed to empower young people through education. These programs aim to produce rapid progress in the core subjects of reading and mathematics for the students it serves by providing high quality learning materials and low student-to-teacher ratios. I will be spending my time in South Africa teaching, mentoring, learning, and engaging in critical dialogue with my peers as we strive to provide a better future for todays youth. Unfortunately this volunteer opportunity does not come without a cost, and I would like to kindly ask for your support and sponsorship. I must raise $2,950 to cover the cost of the program fee. As a 501(c)3 non-profit, your donation is tax-deductible. 100% of your donation will be used with OHS in South Africa to support my work as a volunteer, as well as in future projects. Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated, and can be made in two easy ways:

1. Make a donation online* at: www.oneheartsource.org/donate. Simply visit the link provided, check the Sponsor a Volunteer box, and write my name in the Volunteers Name Box. Please include your e-mail address, as this is how you will receive a tax receipt! 2. Send a check directly to OHS at: P.O. Box 24293, Los Angeles, Ca 90024. Be sure to make the check out to One Heart Source, and to write my name in the memo line! *Electronic donations are recommended! Volunteer Fee is Due By APRIL 31st

Traveling and helping others abroad has always been a dream of mine, and my chance is finally here. With my summer in Africa as a part of the One Heart Source program I hope to begin giving back the many blessings I have received to others and taking my part in improving the injustices that the world's children currently face. Thank you for your time, generosity, and continuous support as I embark on a truly life- changing adventure. I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!

Enkosi kakhulu! (Thank you very much in Xhosa) Love, Sean Thomas Lobb
