ENHS Students, Staff, and Families,

February 14, 2014

Congrats on our first full week of 2014!!! The State of Indiana has temporarily granted permission for schools to add time and count that time as make-up. Therefore, starting on Monday February 24th and ending on Thursday March 27th, we will add one extra hour to the end of our school day. For every six hours we bank, we receive credit for one make-up day. Therefore this will make up four days. We will still use the built in snow make-up days including this Presidents Day Monday, and Good Friday. We also have to use two days at the end of the school year. As of this moment our last day of school will be Friday June 6th. On Mondays we will go to 1st period for that extra hour at the end of the day, Tuesday will be 2nd period, Wednesday will be 3rd, Thursday will be 4th, and Friday will be an additional hour of 5th period. Each day students will have a double period for one of their classes. Teachers understand this schedule and will plan accordingly. The rest of the bell schedules will be as normal. We will have collaboration time on Mondays, IMPACT & ALC students will be released at their regular times, and lunches will be unchanged. If we need to have a two hour delay we will continue to follow the two hour delay schedule and we will add the additional hour at the end of the day. IMPACT & ALC students, we are still working on transportation that will bring you back to ENHS at 3:00 on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. On Thursday and Friday you would then make up your extra hour at IMPACT or ALC. Stay tuned, more transportation information will be coming. Finals exams for Trimester 2 will be on March 6th, and March 7th. Even period finals will be on Thursday and odd period finals will be on Friday. Well have a bell schedule for those two days that will be different. It will include the extra hour and give you time to complete your finals. Well post that as we get closer. This winter has been unlike any Ive ever seen before, and hopefully the worst is behind us. I know this is an inconvenience for everyone, however I think we can all agree that taking care of this now will be better than sitting in classes until June 12th. I know that several students have obligations at the end of the school day. Please do your best to work those out now so that you can get school made up. Its a temporary response, and everyone Ive talked to understands the situation and is willing to get it done. For anyone who has obligations that cannot be worked around, please see me or Mr. Stinson(s), or your counselor. Seniors, I have been assured that graduation will not be changed, and will remain on June 15th. Thanks for your patience and flexibility. Just think, years down the road youll be telling stories about the Winter of 14!
