WORD AS BOND WRITERS WORKSHOPS & BNV TEAM APPLICATION

This application consists of four parts:

1.) The Parental Information and Consent Form

2.) The Writer's Statement

3.) The Writer's writing samples (up to 3 pages of creative writing)

4.) A 3 minute spoken word performance video of the Writer performing an original poem.
Note: Video is only required for youth who and are interested in competing as part of the Word As
Bond Greater Indianapolis Area Youth Slam team that will compete in the Brave New Voices
International Youth Poetry Slam Festival (BNV) July 16-20 in Philadelphia, PA.

Applicant Qualifications: Applicants must be 13 - 19 years old between May 1, 2014 and September 1,
2014 in order to participate in the Young Writers' Workshops. If you are interested in writing groups for adults,
please visit wordasbond.org.


Directions: Please read, fill out, and submit the Parental Information and Consent Form, Writer's Statement,
Writing Samples, and Performance Video (if interested competing in BNV) to workshops@wordasbond.org.
Your application is not complete without these components. We need to have these before your application
can be processed. Please include your first and last name in all file names and attachments.

If you are having any trouble, due to file size, sending your video via email please contact us so that
we might give you access to the WORD Dropbox account.

The deadline for participation in the workshops AND to be considered for the slam team that will compete at
BNV in July is Friday, March 7, 2014 at 5PM. For workshops only the application is due Monday, Monday
March 31, 2014 at 5PM. If you are accepted, you will hear from us via email, so please give us an email
address you check regularly.

* Workshops will be held at the Fountain Square Library in Indianapolis from 10A-2P May 3, May 10, June
7, June 14, July 5, and July 12.
