ApplicationTips: an adequate depth of gel needs to be applied e.g. 1 cm for necrotic tissue and 0.5 m for granulating wounds. A secondary dressing is required to maintain the gel in the wound. Dressing Frequency: daily for necrosis, sloughy or infection every 3 to 4 days in clean wounds

MoistWoundDressings 2.HYDROCOLLOIDS adhesive, pliable, absorbent, waterproof wafers wafers. They contain hydrophilic colloidal particles in an hydrophobic polymer useful in a wide range of mild to moderate exudating or sloughy wounds. The wafer provide good protection in pressure areas by reducing shearing forces.

ulcers resulting from tuberculosis, syphilis

Application Tips: must be large g enough g to extend at least 2 cm from the wound margin Dressing Frequency: wafers should be changed when the gel leaks from the wafer edge (usually 3 to 7 days)

4.POLYURETHANEFOAM
which is highly absorbent and non adherent Indication: moderate to heavily exudating wounds and infected wounds can be used as a secondary dressings to provide additional absorption Contraindication: no absolute contraindications reported

POLYURETHANEFOAM Practicalissues: is not effective on necrotic, dry eschar, but is often used as a secondary dressing over hydrogels to facilitate debridement and healing Application Tips: apply the foam sheets at least 2 cm larger than the wound Dressing Frequency: dressings are changed when leakage or strike through occurs. If possible, they are left for 2 to 3 days, daily if the wound is infected.

it is useful for mildly exudating wounds, including

superficial burns, lacerations, and over sutures, , venous catheter sites. arterial, It can minimize friction and therefore can be used for prevention of superficial pressure or skin breakdown useful secondary dressing over foams, alginates and hydrogels

Indication:

POLYURETHANEFILM Contraindication: infected wounds patients with fragile skin Application Tips: the film sheet needs to provide at least 3 to 4 cm margin around the wound. When applying over joints or the heel, ensure full flexion
