I(m !oin! to !ive a summary of Nintendo in its earlier years so that it(s more clear

to the eye# Nintendo ori!inally wasn(t called Nintendo" nor did it produce a lot of video !ames# In fact" they didn(t start as video !ames# &hey started as a card company" called Nintendo Koppai" which meant (:eave :uck to 7eaven#( It made sense" actually" since it was a card merchandise and a card !ame" which usually involves luck in the first place" they were popular pro a ly when your !reat !randparents were youn!lin!s" in ;<<=# &he man who found it and created this company was named 2usa*iro 8amauchi# 7e handmade every sin!le card" and e!an sellin! them# &his was actually !reat" since he ecame very" very popular with his cards" and !ettin! employees in the process# In the late card era" around ;=>=" the third 456" 7iroshi 8amauchi" renamed the company from" 'Marafuku 4ompany" :imited#) to the lon!est name Nintendo had" 'Nintendo Kutara 4ompany" :imited#) &o their eamin! success for a decade" .isney struck a deal with them to put their characters on the cards in ;=5=# &his was a success and sold at least ?@@"@@@ card packs in one year# In the ;=?@(s" cards kind of weren(t popular anymore" and the .isney cards were pro a ly *ust a fad" so no one really ou!ht them anymore" ut there was still the few who did# 2or five years" ;=?A3;=?<" Nintendo e!an doin! the weirdest thin!s to stay alive" includin! creatin! instant rice" havin! a food *oint" and a vacuum cleaner named 4hiiritory" which actually is now a cameo appearance in some !ames today# $ll failed one way or another" trial and error# Bnfortunately for the company" after the &okyo 6lympics" cards were completely i!nored and not ou!ht# &his caused serious pro lems for Nintendo" since the cards were what rou!ht in the i! ucks and helped with their stran!e merchandises# .urin! this time" they hired a seemin!ly normal mechanic" Cunpei 8okoi" not really knowin! what he(d do for the company# $s almost a last resort" they decided to do toys" ut they were in no match for i! toy companies such as Bandai and &omy# Because of this" Nintendo constantly had to have new ideas ready to make and sell" and they weren(t doin! so well until their mechanic" 8okoi" was messin! with one of the electrical hands in the factory" and actually made a toy out of it called the Bltra 7and# It !ra ed alls

and amon! other thin!s from a distance# $fter ein! promoted a product developer" he made the toys" such as the Bltra Machine and the :ove &ester# 7e also created the Beam Cun Came" the precursor to the N5S Dapper# Nintendo then hired someone new" Shi!eru Miyamoto" not knowin! what this man was capa le of# $fter the toy era" they really did find their eef" after four decades of trial and error" video !ames e!an !ettin! popular at arcades" and the company was feelin! !ood a out itself# &hey went to !et the copyri!ht of Ma!navo+ 6dyssey in 9apan" which had reasona le success" so they went deeper into the world of video !ames" for the home and the arcade# In ;=EE" they released their first system" which wasn(t the N5S" ut the 4olor &F Came ? and the 4olor &F !ame ;5# &o keep confusion out of the way" ? and ;5 were the num er of !ames in the 4olor &F !ame# &hen they shot to arcade" which started with 5FG Gace" and a lar!e handful followed alon!# In ;=<;" .onkey Kon! was created" with Miyamoto as the mastermind# &his was the point of success for Nintendo# &hey finally found a product they were !reat at" and they were finally world known" ased off a simple idea# &oday" Nintendo has had some minor failures" ut almost everyone has heard that name once or twice efore# &hey have made illions" and even thou!h they have a new staff" they all have the same idea and know what to do with video !ames# &hey are successful" weather you deny it or not# &hey know who they are" and they know they are successful# So###what does make Nintendo successful? &he answer is now o vious# &hey were focused on the company" makin! simple arran!ements to fi+ the company(s needs" which mostly was not to !et ankrupt# &heir simple yet creative ideas drove people to the wall and lew their minds# &hey were confident in what they wanted# &hey failed many times" ut they were confident that their stran!e ideas would make them successful# &hey went throu!h trial and error like no other" especially with the toy industry# &hey had to !et throu!h many trials to fi!ure out what they wanted and what they needed to make them successful# :astly" they were optimistic# What if they %uit after they lost their card usiness? Where would we e then in the video !ame industry? Who knows?

Knowin! that Nintendo is a successful company and a !reat way to see how a company works" it helps me realiDe I(m !oin! to have to !o throu!h a lot to e successful" ut it will e worth it#
