Bean Bag Toss


Materials: One shower curtain liner divided into 20 boxes with a er!anent !ar"er Bean Bag Words on large cards Attach the words to the shower curtain with ta e or rubber ce!ent before the ga!e is being la#ed$ %ut the s!all nu!bers on the corner of the cards$ &ivide the class into 2 tea!s$ 'ach tea! will ta"e turns throwing the bean bag to a s(uare$ )f the student can read the word the bean bag lands on* the tea! gets the nu!ber of oints on the card$ )f the student !isses the word* the other tea! gets the chance to sa# it$ The tea! with the !ost oints wins the ga!e$

Materials: Word +ards All the students sit in a circle$ ,Or the students can re!ain at their des"s$- One student stands behind one student who is sitting$ The teacher flashes the! a sight word$ Whoever sa#s it first !oves on to the next student$ The student that !a"es it bac" to their own des" or starting oint is the winner$ This is a rett# o ular ga!e* but the little ones love to tr# to sto so!eone who is !a"ing it .Around the World./

Tic Tac Toe


Materials: +hal"board with the tic tac toe board drawn on it Word +ards &ivide the class into 01s and O1s tea!s$ Write words in the tic tac toe s aces$ Ta"e turns having a !e!ber of the tea! co!e u and selecting a s ace to read$ )f he is correct* the# !a# ut an 0 or O for their tea!$ )f the# are incorrect* the other tea! gets to send a la#er to the board to tr# the sa!e word$ 2ou can "ee score if #ou want$ 2ou can alread# have these boards !ade u on overhead trans arencies to save ti!e and "ee the ga!e !oving if #ou are using a variet# of words* li"e the sight word list$ 32ou can also give ever#one a blan" co # of the tic tac toe board* and ut the list of words on the board$ 4ave the! lace the words where the# want in their board$ As #ou call the words out* #ou will have to sa# if it is an 0 word or an O$ The first one to tic tac toe is the winner$

Materials: Blan" .Wordo . cards with 5* 67* or 28 bloc"s$ +o # of words being studied 4ave students fill in the card with the words that #ou are wor"ing on$ Tell the! that each card will be different and to tr# to !ix u the words the# are using$ %la#ing the ga!e is 9ust li"e B):;O$ +all out the words and have the students s ell it out loud with #ou and then !ar" their s aces$ This will give those who are unsure of the word so!e extra hel $ The first one with a row covered calls out the word .WOR&O./ <et the winner be the one who calls out the words the next ti!e$

Materials: Word lists on the chal"board Write on the chal"board two colu!ns of words that are a roxi!atel# e(ual in difficult#$ Write as !an# words on the board as there are children in the rela#$ +hildren are divided into 2 tea!s* and stand in two lines at right angles to the chal"board$ At the signal* the first child in each line oints at the first word in his res ective colu!n of words and ronounces that word$ )f his ronounces it correctl#* he is allowed to erase that word$ The ga!e is won b# the side that erases all the words first$

Materials: A grou siBe set of sight words The children are divided into 2 tea!s$ 'ach tea! ta"es a turn atte! ting to ronounce a word turned u fro! a ile of sight words$ )f one tea! !isses* the o osite tea! then receives a chance to ronounce that word in addition to their regular turn$ Score is "e t on the nu!ber of words each tea! ronounces correctl#$ &o not have !e!bers sit down when the# !iss a word* but have each tea! !e!ber go to the bac" of the line after each tr# whether successful or not$ This enables all !e!bers to gain e(ual ractice and does not eli!inate those eo le who need ractice !ost$

Materials: ;rou siBe cards Mar" one chair in the circle as the .4ead +hair.$ %la# begins when #ou flash a card to the erson in the .4ead +hair.$ A child can sta# in his chair onl# until he !isses a word$ When he !isses a word* he goes to the end chair and all the children will !ove u one chair$ The ob9ect of the ga!e is to tr# to end u in the .4ead +hair.$
