Title of Activity: Crazy Conversations

Number of Teams & Group Size: Participants to pair up (Groups of 2 or 3 people) with a partner Minimum 2 people per group No limit on the amount of teams

Time Allocated: 15 - 20 minutes

Goal: Self-Introduction, Energizer

Preparation & Set-Up: None

Directions for Conducting the Activity: 1. Ask participants to pair up in groups of 2 or 3. 2. Inform them that you will assign them a type of speaking voice. They are to take turns to introduce themselves to each other using only the assigned speaking voice. 3. You may choose to have participants share a variety of information about themselves, including their name, where they are from (country, company, class, department, school, etc), things they will like to learn / take away from the course, their hobbies, what they do at work / school, their favourite food, or their favourite songs / movies / television shows. 4. Assign participants the chosen speaking voice, and begin the activity. Once participants have completed their introductions, ask them to change / swap partners. 5. Assign participants another speaking voice, and begin again. You may wish to repeat 3 or 4 rounds of this activity.

6. Finally, ask some participants to share what theyve learnt about their group.

Specific Rules: 1. Participants take turns to introduce themselves, and must speak in the manner that is assigned.

Variations: 1. Participants introduce themselves in their normal speaking voice, but they must end every sentence on a high pitch. 2. Participants introduce themselves using the speaking voice of a well-known movie character, such as Terminator, Darth Vader, Forrest Gump, Tonto (Lone Ranger), Austin Powers, Buzz Lightyear, Agent Smith, James Bond, Wicked Witch, Rambo, Gollum, Optimus Prime, etc.
