A+ DENVER

A+ focuses on the intersection of district...A+ has moved policy, practice, and politics Denver schools forward." Federico Pea, building support for changes that former Denver put the interests of students over Mayor those of adults. We exist because, despite recent and laudable gains in Denver Public Schools, we still have a long way to go before the zip code a child is born in no longer dictates his or her destiny. We advocate for more and better options for families, to hold schools to high standards, to push for effective district management, and to raise awareness about issues that matter most for our kids. Today in Denver, the average ACT score for a lowincome student is 16, while that of a non-low income student is 21. Nine out of 10 kids at the 10 worst performing schools are low-income. Based on five year trends, 100% of all low-income kids wont be proficient until 2054, and over half of African American boys fail to graduate high school on time. Our ultimate goal is to ensure that every child in Denver has access to an excellent public education.
