2 Running Head: EPSLO 1&2 Individualized Portfolio Plan broken down by BSN End of Program Student Learning Objectives (EPSLO) 1. Synthesizes knowledge from the arts and sciences and from nursing theory, practice, and evidence-based research to provide and to manage the health care needs of diverse community populations, patients, and families across the continuum of health care. a. ARTIFACT: Course Project 3 Theory Application to Plan of Care i. JUSTIFICATION: This project allowed me to create a patient care plan based off of the Nursing Theories. The patient was a Turkish housekeeper who smokes. I was able to connect a nursing theory to her culture, and get positive results from the plan of care that was created. By using this theory, I can care for a diverse community and create a connection with my patient. b. ARTIFACT: Surgical Never Events paper i. JUSTIFICATION: This paper showed evidence based practices of procedures that could go wrong. I was able to research about an upcoming trend of medical mistakes in surgery. It allowed me to understand the common mistakes and come up with a plan to prevent them in my future. By taking a simple step and being brave enough to speak up a nurse can provide safe and competent care for the patient. 2. Uses professional nursing judgment, informed by Christian principles, moral and ethical reasoning, professional nursing standards, and evidence-based practice to promote health, prevent disease, and provide safe, competent, whole-person nursing care across the continuum of health care. a. ARTIFACT: How Politics Relate to the American Nurses Association (ANA) i. JUSTIFICATION: By researching how the ANA and politics are connected it helped me understand how professional nursing standards are created. I was able to create a connection between nursing and political agendas. The ANA helps manage staffing which connects to patient safety. It also assists nursing resource funding in the community. By writing this paper, it expanded my knowledge and showed me I need to get involved. b. ARTIFACT: Nursing Ethics paper i. JUSTIFICATION: This paper connected the ethical and moral decisions a nurse must make in their career at least once. When a patient is older and chooses to end their life rather than continue being a burden to their families. A nurse needs to follow the professional nursing standards even when the best of intentions are showing. This paper opened my eyes to a new world of the older generation making a plan on ending their lives.
