Is Hitler Really Dead?

Adolf Hitler became known as the leader of the National Socialist German Workers Party or the Nazi Party. Many historians believe that it was Hitlers mission in life to rid the world of Jews. World War II began under his dictatorship, and with the said war as cover, Hitler and the Nazis devised a system to enslave and kill the Jews. This system, known today as the Holocaust, became the reason why Hitler is now considered as one of the most evil people in history. In 1945, when Hitler realized that Germany was going to lose the war, he married his long-time mistress Eva Braun in a civil ceremony in his Berlin bunker. Afraid of falling into the hands of their enemies, the couple committed suicide a day after their wedding. Their bodies were carried outside of the bunker and burned. Berlin fell a few days after their death. The Nazi officers who found Hitlers body in his Berlin bunker was made to appear in court on October 25, 1956. Said court was convened to officially declare Hitler dead so his fortune could be seized by the government. A recording of the testimonies made by the Nazi officers describing the moment they found the body was discovered three years ago. It lays currently hidden in the Munich public records office. Access to the restored recording is granted to scholars and historians. The recording is one proof that Hitler did commit suicide almost 70 years ago. However, myths surrounding the death of Hitler and his mistress have surfaced in recent years. Many historians and journalists claim that there is evidence to suggest that the couple faked their own death, escaped, and went on to live a new life somewhere in Argentina. In their book Grey Wolf: The Escape of Adolf, authors Gerrard Williams and Simon Dunstan argue that there is no compelling evidence of the pairs death and that there exists credible accounts from eyewitnesses of their continued survival in Argentina. The authors also maintain that the bodies cremated were not those of the couple because a body double took Hitlers place and an actress stood in for Braun. Furthermore, almost four years ago, a DNA analysis on the bullet hole of the skull fragment believed to be Hitlers revealed that the said skull belonged to a woman under 40 years of age. Hitler was said to be 56 when he died, making it impossible for the skull to belong to him. This test strengthened the theory that Hitler may not have shot himself in the head and died in his bunker. American researchers performed the tests making it more conclusive and believable. These recent discoveries have reinforced the belief that Hitlers death was a ploy made by the Nazis to make him a hero. Some scholars believe that the couples death was merely a ruse to help them escape. In spite of several evidences coming to light, there is not enough data to confirm whether or not Hitler really died. Further research is needed to determine what really became of Adolf Hitler.
