Easter. Let us also make our gatherings for Sometimes, in Christian faith, the worship, study, fellowship, service and outreach our custom, inviting others to join us. question is asked, What are you giving up for Lent? See you in worship! My question is, What are you adding to your Christian faith in Lent?

GHANA MISSION TASK FORCE REPORT In a letter dated December 30th and received on January 25th from Rev. L. J. K. Dzakpasu, a Christmas blessing was sent to the Hill Church. Rev. Dzakpasu is now serving as the Southern Presbytery Synod Moderator, having completed his stay in Bubiashie as the District Pastor on December 31, 2013. His message was,.. that the Christmas season was over, but the good news of the first Christmas remains with humanity forever. May the blessing of Christmas continue to influence the Hill UP Congregation. His new position is located in the city of Akatsi, which is in the very southeast corner of Ghana not far from the Gulf of Guinea, an arm of the Atlantic Ocean. Our task force should soon be learning the name of the new District Pastor. In concluding his letter, Reverend Dzakpasu stated, The Scholarship Project is being run effectively by Mr. Bernard Daddy and his team. The youth who are the beneficiaries recognize the great help coming from God through the Hill Church. Carefully note what he says. The financial help that we are providing is a gift coming from God, but through us. We are the servants of God; His feet, His hands, and His eyes recognizing the need and acting in love. Thank you all so very much for being who you are and for continuing this good work. On February 15th, a letter of appreciation was received from Catechist Robert Scott Nyalemegbe who spoke on behalf of three young women of the Tsokome Congregation. The congregation expressed their profound gratitude for the immense contribution towards their childrens education. One of the students, Anita Nyalemegbe, sent a separate letter of thanksgiving and appreciation. She is 21 and is enrolled at the Community Health Nurses Training College in Navrongo. Anita asks that the Good Lord richly blesses us and rewards us for what we have done and replenish all our efforts a hundred fold. Log onto the Ghanaian news sometime. You will find it to be similar to our US news. Articles on taxes, government size and expenditures, defaming or proclaiming the merits of the politicians, letters responding to the news, and concern about the economy. There was also an article on religion where the pastor was lamenting about how Ghanaians are only church goers since the average Ghanaian has no conscience of serving Jesus Christ from their heart. Christians are not church goers but people who obey Gods word, follow the footsteps of their savior Jesus Christ. Some interesting thoughts, dont you think? Please keep the Bubiashie District churches, Bernard Daddy, chairperson of the Bubiashie Scholarship Committee, as well as the students in your prayers.

PER CAPITA Per Capita (about that blue envelope in your box of weekly offering envelopes). In case you are wondering what the blue envelope near the beginning of your 2014 offering envelope box is for, you are not the only one. Per Capita is the assessment each congregation pays for each church member recorded on their membership rolls. It is assessed by our denomination (Presbyterian Church, U.S.A.) to cover the required administrative expenses to operate the Presbytery, Synod and General Assembly offices of each judicatory. These expenses are $34.22 per member for 2014. Since the Per Capita is included in calculating our operating budget, not everyone contributes extra to this source. Others prefer to do so in order to help ease a little of the financial burden that this places upon the church budget. A little extra giving does make a difference when our congregations total Per Capita assessment is $12,114.00. Even if you are not led to give the entire $34.22, any amount toward the Per Capita would be appreciated. Thank you to those who choose to help. Blessings In Christ, The Stewardship and Mission Support Committee

ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING Lenten And Easter Season Offering More than sixty years ago, in response to the devastation of World War II, a Saturday evening nationwide broadcast asked Americans to give generously the next morning in their churches. A remarkable variety of national leaders and celebrities gave their efforts to the broadcast. More than seventy-five thousand churches responded. So was born The One Great Hour of Sharing. Today, our Presbyterian Church USA uses its offering gifts roughly divided into thirds. Each of these three programsSelf-development of People, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and the Presbyterian Hunger programreceives 32% of the offering; the remaining 4% goes to the Presbyterian Hunger Program for its work on homelessness and affordable housing. The Presbyterian Church USA offering has received eight to eleven million dollars a year for at least the past twenty years. Our goal at Hill Church this year is $1,600.00. Please pray about whether God wants you to give to this offering. If you are led to give, please give generously. Envelopes will be in the bulletins at our worship services throughout Lent and into the celebration of Holy Week and Easter. Blessings to you! The Stewardship and Mission Support Committee

Session Meeting Highlights February 10, 2014 It was with joy that five new members were received into the Hill Church upon Reaffirmation of Faith in Jesus Christ: Kerry Cavalero; Joshua and Melanie Reeger; and Bill and Cindy Walters. We welcome each of our new members and pray Gods Blessing upon them as we look forward to their being with us in the Family of Faith at Hill Church! Also, the Administration Committee moved that the position of Administrative Assistant be increased by 10 hours per month at the rate of $10 per hour, with the additional 10 hours to be scheduled at the discretion of Head of Staff. Finally, Stewardship moved to use $45,000 from the unrestricted funds to payback 2 loans. To Hazlett for $20,000 and Huselton for $25,000. We would use $45,000 from the Faux gift which is unrestricted. Clark Sawyer Moderator

ARE YOU A SEEKER? If you are between the ages of 22 and 38 and find yourself seeking fellowship, fun and a common spiritual life with others your age this ministry is for you! Come to the Hall Lounge after worship on March 23 for a yummy lunch, lots of laughs, and some time to get to know others in our church family who are feeling the same way. Drop your children off downstairs in the Art Room for their own supervised lunch, games and fun. To arrange baby care - let Pastor Clark know that we will need to staff the nursery or just bring your little one with you to lunch so all the tiny ones can meet each other too! Well discuss future possibilities for gettogethers, such as movie nights, bowling, sporting events, dessert parties, concerts, and even Girls Night Out and Guys Night Out. Who couldnt use one of those with your church friends? See you on the 23rd!!

MEALS ON WHEELS On April 6, Presbyterian Women will be accepting baked goods for our annual contribution to Meals on Wheels. Cash donations are also much appreciated. Checks should be made to Hill U.P. Church with Meals on Wheels written in the memo section. Again, we thank you for your help!
