Team, We hope you enjoyed the two month break because starting March 1st Mystery Shops are coming back with a makeover! We have spent the last few weeks picking apart each section, rewriting questions, and reevaluating the point system to create the ultimate customer service driven Mystery Shop. Why make changes to the Mystery Shop, you ask? Because we are the editorial for the Brand! The Brand image we create drives customers into our stores and on to our site. We have to create a compelling experience both visually and through our service standards. This new shop will go through a pilot period for the entire month of March and become official starting April 1st. Service Labs will be available in the Training Library on the People Page by March 14th, with hard copies sent out to evert store in the beginning of April. In the meantime, the new shop template has been posted to the Business Page for you to start reviewing wit your teams now!

There are no shortcuts when it comes to greatness. Sure, some people are born great, or according to Shakespeare have greatness thrust upon them; but evidence suggests that nobody becomes truly great at something without working at it. Therefore, the development of the leaders in our organization should be approached with carefully crafted strategies to maximize our potential for success. We tend to learn the most important lessons via 3 clusters of experience: formal coursework/training, by developing relationships, and most importantly working on challenging assignments. Also, Ive found the following points to be incredibly effective behavioral reminders when developing leadership skills at UO: Encourage your employees to disagree with you. Dont micromanage. When people err, dont destroy them. Show compassion. Vow to be constantly learning and curious. Know yourself. Be laser-focused (multi-tasking vs. single goal oriented) Get rid of poor managers. Practice leadership daily.
Remember, the point of reviews are to inspire and motivate growth. Feedback is part of this, but it is important that it is productive feedback. Take the time to read the review back to yourself and make sure that if you were on the receiving end you would walk away feeling inspired and motivated. Due to some last minute updates, we have decided to pilot an additional 30 stores with the new application starting tomorrow. (The following districts: Northwest, Midwest II, Central East, South). All remaining stores will go live on 3/11. On your go-live date, you must retire use of your RF guns and only utilize the RF App function on your mobiles. Information will be posted next week for those rolling out on the 11th. There have been many questions regarding the new Direct Applications function on the registers. A FAQ document will be posted on the Store Controls page for your reference by end of Day 3/3. Any further questions, please contact Store Support or Sarah Leising: SLeising@urbanoutfitters.com.
