Classroom News
Spring is right around the corner!.. I hope! With the winter storms we keep having, it sure doesnt feel like it. Please make sure your child is still dressed for the conditions. Please make sure to bring your pick up card everyday. The school policy is not to release students to people who do not have the monkey card. If I am not dismissing the students the substitute is required to check everyone for cards. If you need an extra card, please take the time to go to the office for one. Thanks! Report cards will be coming home this month. Please make sure you read your childs report card carefully and talk about it with your child. If they see it is important to you, they usually make it important at school. If you have any questions after reading your childs report, please feel free to give me a call to discuss. Last week we started the 100s Spelling Club. Any student, who gets 100% on the Monday practice test, will not have to retake the test on Friday. They will receive special spelling privileges, and get to put their feet up and read during the Friday spelling test.

Language Arts
Writing, Reading, and Making Words
In spelling we will be working on unusual vowel combinations. We will learn long /e/: e, ee, ea, -y, and long /o/: o, oa, ow long /i/ y igh ie We will continue to work on building reading comprehension to understand what is read.
In writing we will continue to work through the editing process to add to and change our writing pieces like authors do.

Math
Addition, Measurement and Time
Continue counting, ordering and writing numbers to 120 by 1s, 5s and 10s Addition and subtraction facts 1 to 20. Measurement Telling time to the half hour and hour

Science and Social Studies

Sun, Seasons, Weather Mapping
We will alternate between science and social studies activities weekly or monthly. Weather Public Policy Issue on Weather Safety. The students will be making posters in groups and presenting their information to others.

Escritura y Lectura y formar palabras
En la ortografa vamos a estar trabajando en combinaciones de vocales inusuales. Vamos a aprender mucho sobre la pronunciacin larga de /e/: e, ee, ea, -y, y tambin /o/: o, oa, ow. Vamos a seguir trabajando en el desarrollo de la comprensin para comprender lo que lee. En la escritura seguiremos trabajando a travs del proceso de edicin para aadir y modificar nuestras piezas de escritura como los autores lo hacen.

Estaremos alternado entre actividades de ciencias y estudio social semanal mensualmente. Estacin de Temporada Cuestin de pliza pblica sobre la seguridad del tiempo. Los estudiantes van a realizar carteles en grupos y presentar su informacin a otras personas.
