The Aligarh Muslims University, Aligarh an esteemed institution of learning is the vision of Aligarh movement launched by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, a great visionary and educationist of the country. With his uncanny abilities and devotion Sir Syed Ahmad Khan founded MAO College in !"# and had a firm conviction to built it u$ a university li%e o&ford and Cambridge. Contributions of AMU to $romote reasonable thin%ing and modern education in the country and $articularly among Muslims that 'as e&$licitly been recogni(ed by the $arliament of )ndia 'hen it $assed the AMU Amendment Act, *! . +ence the University is em$o'ered under section #,-.,c. of the act /to $romote es$ecially the educational and cultural advancement of Muslims of )ndia0. Modern a$e is the age of s%illful %no'ledge that can serve the society, organi(ation 1 either in educational institutions or service organi(ations. Since the last many decades there has been a cry that %no'ledge 'ithout use is useless. This is the scenario of the 'orld at large irres$ective of the nations 22 develo$ed, develo$ing or underdevelo$ed. )n s$ite of this fact, it has been seen that there are still a large number of institutions es$ecially run by Muslims, are generally focusing on traditional ty$e of education that has little to do in 3uest of rendering services to the community $eo$le and subse3uently may become the source of their lo' 3uality living. )t is indeed, true that traditional education is time2consuming and do not $rovide o$$ortunities for getting early be2fitting 4ob 'hereas, vocational or $rofessional education is a 'ell2directed and $lanned 'ay of $erusing education that $rovide am$le o$$ortunity for getting early and befitting 4obs and subse3uently 'ill %ee$ 4ob see%ers to en4oy high 3uality of life. With regard to $rofessionali(ation of education, it is to say that educational institutions must have there fingers on the nerves of the mar%et 'here most demanded 4obs are available or li%ely to be created in near future because if in accordance 'ith the 4ob mar%et conditions if education and training are $rovided then there are most li%ely enhances that $eo$le 'ill get em$loyment at the earliest 'ithout losing their career tenure. )n fact, in this modern age there is a fast $ace of technological develo$ment and for that reason every moment ne' courses are coming u$ to cater the re3uirements of the ne' 4obs. +o'ever, it is observed that Muslim institutions lag behind in visuali(ing the changing scenario of the 'orld of 'or% 'ith regard to the conditions and nature of 4ob o$$ortunities attracting the $eo$le in the 4ob mar%et hence, as a result generally Muslim students are $ursuing traditional education 'hich has no or little direction as 'ell as involves a time2consuming $rocess in getting

$ro$er 4ob for 'hich youngsters are 'ell suited. )n vie' to such observation, it is conceived that there must be an o$en deliberations among Muslim educationists5$lanners and various other +eads of Muslim Minority )nstitutions of both Madrasas and university5colleges for thin%ing over the issue of $rofessional and vocational courses for the benefits of Muslim students. The educationists, e&$erts and other $artici$ants may deliberate on the $resent $attern of the Muslims educational institutions and the $roblems they are facing in o$ening $rofessional5vocational courses and lin%ing these courses 'ith the o$$ortunities in the 4ob mar%et through interaction during the course of Seminar 'hich may be highly fruitful for motivating and $romoting Muslim )nstitutions to go for vocational5$rofessional courses that may subse3uently $romote and enhance the 3uality of life of Muslim youths in )ndia by getting be2fitting 4ob at the early age. 6or this $ur$ose, it has been $lanned to organi(e a 7ational Seminar on %Professionalization of Education: Problems and Opportunities for Indian Muslims&.
