MEFC manufactures all latest technology optical fibers as per International Standards. Optical fibers are made from high quality silica glass and coated with dual layer acrylic material to give protection against micro bending, mechanical abrasion and temperature changes. MEFC Optical fibers are produced in highly clean environment and are ensured to maintain their pristine state through out manufacturing. Each fiber is proof tested to ensure that the fiber will function for a full life time of more than 30 years under residual stress conditions. With one of the best-equipped testing laboratories optical, geometrical, mechanical and environmental properties are measured for compliance to international standards, ITU, IEC, EIA/TIA etc. Tighter geometrical tolerance, high fiber curl and low PMD are the primary benefits of MEFC fiber which gives cost saving for the cable installers. Selection Of Right Type Of Fiber While choosing right type of Optical fiber for the networks, in general, the following factors shall be considered: Present capacity requirements Future demand and requirements Active and Passive component costs While many factors have to be evaluated when selecting fibers for a given network, two key parameters attenuation and dispersion are primarily important factors. Attenuation is the signal loss as travels through a fiber. Dispersion is the natural tendency of the different wavelengths in the light pulses to spread with distance traveled. Optical fibers are normally classified into two types, Single Mode and Multi Mode according to the no. of modes the fiber carries. 1.1.a SINGLE MODE FIBER Single Mode Fibers are Further Classified into three categories by International Telecommunication Union based on the properties of Dispersion G.652 Dispersion Un-shifted Single Mode Fiber Also called as Standard Single Mode Fibers (9/125 nm) G.653 Dispersion shifted Fiber The dispersion at 1550nm is almost zero, these fibers are almost out dated due to the factors than they cannot be used in WDM and DWDM applications G.655 Non Zero Dispersion Shifted Fibers Advanced fiber technology for applications upto 40G.bits/sec. In both WDM and DWDM applications. STANDARD SINGLE MODE FIBER (9/125) (ITUG.652) ITU further divided the Single mode optical fibers are classified into A,B,C,D categories based on the applications attenuation and Dispersion and geometrical Parameters

These Fiber are devised for transmission systems operating up to STM-16 ( 2.5 Gbits/Sec) , and are designed to operate at 1310 nm and 1550 nm Wave Length.
ITU G.652.B
These Fiber are devised for transmission systems operating up to STM-64 (10 Gbits/Sec), with tighter tolerance of PMD and Geometrical parameters and are designed to operate at 1310 nm and 1550 nm Wave Length.
ITU G.652.C
These Fiber are devised for transmission systems operating up to STM-64 (10 Gbits/Sec), allows transmission up to extended range 1260-1620 nm. The lower pear attenuation at 1380 nm allows these fibers can be utilized from 1260-1620 nm.
ITU G.652.D
These Fiber are devised for transmission systems operating up to STM-64 (10 Gbits/Sec), allows transmission up to extended range 1260-1620 nm. The lower pear attenuation at 1380 nm allows these fibers can be utilized from 1260-1620 nm, with tighter tolerance of PMD and Geometrical parameters of fibers. G.655- Non Zero Dispersion Shifted Single Mode Fibers These fibers are having minimum dispersion at 1550 nm for longer distance applications. Non zero dispersion shifter single mode fiber (NZDSF) is operated for WDM and DWDM systems which enables customer to construct high performance wired networks for voice, video and / or data transmission. 1.1.b Multi Mode Fibers Multi Mode Fibers (MMF) provides a high performance in a wide range of application, suitable for short length networks and installed in the distribution portion of any telecommunications network. The have been classified on its Core diameter and Bandwidth requirements. Multi Mode Fibers are of two types even though ITU recognizes the with same standards, based on its core diameter. Multi Mode Fiber is differentiated as 50/125 and 62.5/125 nm

After the stage wise inspection, routine testsattenuation co-efficient, Attenuation uniformity, water ingress test on filled cables, physical dimensions and surface quality, are carried out on the finished cables. In order to ensure the finished cables function satisfactorily for at least 30 to 40 years without degradation to the Optical transmission, type tests are conducted for every design periodically. Tensile loading, Fiber strain, Flexing, Repeated Bend, Impact, Crush, Torsion, Temperature cycling, Compound Flow tests are conducted using automated equipments to precisely apply the conditions laid down in international standards as well as customers specifications. The process and product quality characteristics are analyzed using statistical quality control techniques. X-bar and R charts, Normal Distribution analysis, Pareto Analysis, Percentile charts, Pcharts are widely used statistical techniques for monitoring of test equipment and product quality characteristics in MEFC. Our commitment towards delivering highest quality optical fiber cables is quality assurance to our customers that they can reap the benefits of peak performance from their fiber optic network.

MEFC's OptiGlow-LWP optical fiber is a matched clad Dispersion unshifted single mode fiber A dual layer UV cured acrylate coating is applied over the pure glass cladding. This high quality coating protects the fiber from mechanical and environmental stresses and has excellent bend resistance characteristics. Low attenuation of OptiGlow-LWP in broad range of wavelengths including water peak enables CWDM transmission for increased network capacity. Attenuation characteristics are stabilized against Hydrogen. It is designed for use in wavelengths between 1280 to 1625nm. It has superior attenuation performance throughout this band. OptiGlow-LWP is fully compatible with conventional Single Mode Fiber. Its low PMD and improved bending performance and high Curl advantage to the manufacturers of ribbon cables and installers as high curl values permit much faster splicing MEFC's optical fibers are manufactured using Vapor Phase Axial Deposition (VAD) process. VAD process is the most efficient process for controlling optical and geometrical properties of optical fibers.
