RAD Rapid Application & Development

FactoryTalk View Site Edition Global Objects

Global objects let you link the appearance and behavior of a graphic object to multiple copies of that object in the same application. When you make changes to the original object, the copies are changed as well. The same display can be used multiple times with the parameter passed to them using tag placeholders that forms the tagname. The Symbol Factory is a library of over 5,000 graphical objects optimized for high performance for use in industrial automation HMI applications, Objects can be shaded fill.

Display reuse with parameter passing

Symbol Factory and Object shading

Data Access Control

The External Access property allows you to specify the level of access (Read Only, Read/Write, or None) external applications and devices have to tags.

Alarming
FactoryTalk Alarm and Events System Overview

The FactoryTalk Alarms and Events Services centralize the distribution of device-based and tag-based alarm data to run-time clients, through FactoryTalk alarm servers that you add to a FactoryTalk View SE application. Logix controllers will serve alarm information to FactoryTalk Alarms and Events Services Banner. There are two instructions in the Logix controllers ALMA for Analog alarm and ALMD for Digital alarm. Allows non Logix based controllers and third party devices to connect to FactoryTalk alarms and events. You can associate a FactoryTalk View command with any alarm. The command is executed from the Alarm and Event Summary or Alarm and Event Banner.

Utilizing SQL and Stored Procedures

FactoryTalk Transaction Manager FactoryTalk Transaction Manager can move large amounts of data in a fast and robust manner. Provides error checking for when a transaction has not completed. Can write-back handshake to control system for transfer verification. Two types of transaction
Uni-Directional Data transactions (Data logging from a Controller to a Database) Bi-directional Data Transaction. A bit in the controller triggers the transaction, Data from the control system is passed to a stored procedure in the database and the stored procedure executes and the output data is downloaded to the controller.

Stored Procedures
A stored procedure is a set of Structured Query Language (SQL) statements with an assigned name that's stored in the database in compiled form. Utilize the full power of the Microsoft SQL instruction set.

Powerful data logging and analysis

FactoryTalk Historian Site Edition and FactoryTalk Vantagepoint VantagePoint 4.0 Historian connector
Logical model of the data points. Instances of types allows for quick deployment of new Historian tags to report on

Real time tags that are historized are automatically detected. User can drag a real time tag onto a trend and automatically the system will show historical data. When tags are historized in multiple historians the system can find the best source of information needed for a report / trend. Makes reporting completely transparent to the end user. User can drag a real time tag onto a trend and automatically the system will show historical data.

Aggregations of data are automatically handled in Historian.
