It is strongly recommended that you follow these step-by-step numbered instructions to set up and quickly begin using TutorTIMS-Student

CHECK THAT JAVA IS INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER

If you are not sure that JAVA is already installed, perform a search for the javaw.exe program le on your computer hard disk. Click START > SEARCH and enter javaw.exe as the le to search for. Proceed to STEP 3 if JAVA Runtime Environment is installed. (Version 1.4 or later). Otherwise go to STEP 2 to install JAVA from the web.

INSTALL JAVA ON YOUR COMPUTER

Install JAVA from the www.java.com web site. Look for Java Software Download and download the latest Java Runtime Environment (approx. 15MB) automatically to your computer. Ensure that le association for *.jar les is set to JAVAW.EXE on your computer.

INSTALL THE TutorTIMS PROGRAM AND DOCUMENTATION FILES Extract the TutorTIMS les TutorTIMS on your computer

Open the TutorTIMS *.ZIP le

Double click the *.ZIP le you have received from your professor.

Click EXTRACT to copy TutorTIMS to your destination folder.

TutorTIMS program (*.jar), other les and manuals folder will be extracted and copied on your hard drive.

GETTING ON-SCREEN HELP

Click the HELP toggle switch: the help menu (left column) and details are displayed in the scope window.

Click on any menu item in the left column: details will be displayed on the right.

LOADING A TutorTIMS EXPERIMENT FILE

Click the LOAD toggle switch and locate the *.tut le to load.

TutorTIMS-Student Version includes a small number of pre-wired, ready-to-load, experiment les. Click the LOAD toggle switch and locate the *.tut les in the directory you installed to.

USER MANUALS
Click the MANUALS toggle switch to launch the documentation INDEX in a web browser window. TIMS USER Manuals are provided in PDF format.

RIGHT CLICK your mouse button and select Open in New Window to open the manuals PDF le.

GETTING STARTED: Selecting and inserting modules

RIGHT CLICK on any empty slot. Then click on the module of your choice.

Making connections

Click on any terminal. Note that the terminal changes colour.

Click on another terminal to make the connection.
