4.1.2 Charging interface
SIM700D has integrated a charging circuit into the module for Li-Ion battery charging control. In
order to use charging function, please connect VBAT test-point to your Li-Ion battery positive
poleconnect GND test-point to your Li-Ion battery negative pole, and connect VCHG test-point
to your charging power supply. Please refer to the following figure

Figure 8: Power test-point interface
Warning: The VBAT test-point is connected with SIM700D module directly, please ensure your
power supply does not exceed 4.5V. If you want to use RS232 UART in this case, you must
switch S402 to ON state.

4.2 Audio Interface
4.2.1 Audio Overview
SIM700D-EVB provides two analog input channels, Microphone 1 input and Microphone 2
input, that may be used for both microphone and line input. The Microphone 1 input channel is
differential, but Microphone 2 input channel is single-ended. Usually one of the two channels is
typically used with a microphone built into a handset. The other channel is typically used with a
microphone built into a earphone or external line input. The SIM700D-EVB analog input
configuration is determined by AT COMMAND. The connection can be either differential or
single-ended, but using a differential connection in order to reject common mode noise and
TDMA noise is recommended.

Figure 9: Audio interface
4.2.2 Audio interface1
Both Microphone1 inputs and Audio 1 outputs are differential signals:

4.3 SIM card interface
The SIM700D-EVB contains a dedicated smart card interface, conforming to the ISO/IEC7816-3
(Identification Card) standard but only supporting the subset required for GSM phase 2+
operation. This interface is fully compliant with GSM 11.11 recommendations concerning the
SIM functionality.
The SIM interface is available through the 80 pins connector connected to a stand-alone SIM
card holder.

Figure 13: SIM card holder
Notes: This interface is compatible 3V and 1.8V on the SIM700D-EVB, it can be recognize
automatically by software. 5V SIM card can be driven with production unit using an external
level shifter.
The SIM Interface module functions as an asynchronous serial communications port. It is half
duplex and therefore allows sharing of hardware between receive and transmit modes. The
interface is symmetric, with the same timing for transmit and receive.

4.4 RF Interface
The SIM700D-DTE has been equiped with an Antenna PAD and a ultra-miniature SMT GSC
type RF connector(the vendor Part Number:MM9329-2700B) so that the customers can complete
the antenna installation easily and alternatively.
Install antenna via the SIM700D Antenna PAD.
---The customer can connect its antenna via a microwave coaxial cable which one terminal
SIM700D-EVB_UGD _V1.02 20 20.08.2008
SIM700D-EVB User Guide
is SMA type and the other is opened. The SMA type terminal is connected with customers
antenna, and the opened terminal is soldered on the modules antenna PAD(the woven outer
conductor is soldered on the GND PAD which near the Antenna PAD, and the inner
conductor is soldered on the Antenna PAD).
---If the customers antenna equiped with a spring contactor, the antenna can be attached on
the Antenna PAD via a spring contactor directly.
Install antenna via the ultra-miniature RF connector.
The customer can connect its antenna via a MXTK series microwave coaxial cable which
vended by Murata. The SMA type terminal of the coaxial cable is connected with customers
antenna, and the other terminal can be connected with the modules ultra-miniature RF
connector directly.
4.5 RS232 Interface
RS232 interface is available complying with 2.93 Volts interface. The signals are Tx data (TXD),
Rx data (RXD), Request To Send (RTS), Clear To Send (CTS), Data Terminal Ready (DTR). The
set of RS232 signals can be required for GSM DATA services application. Two additional signals
are Data Carrier Detect (DCD) and Ring Indicator (RI).
Communication between your application and the SIM700D is allowed connecting the DTE to
the Asynchronous Serial Interfaces of Base-Band Chip, X101 and X102, through the standard
RS232 communications port (double 9way D-socket connector at slow data rates of RS232
protocol)

Figure 14: RS232 interface
X102 can be used as a control interface ,data communication or firmware upgrade.
X101 is a debug 3-wires uart interface, it has to be used as debug function only.
