Gun Up/Down Sensor 1V2P

Gun Up and down sensors issues are caused by one or two of the sensors mounted to the top of the Swing gun, does not correctly detect weather the gun is in the up position or down position. Gun Down is when the gun goes down into the hopper to take a stone, when this happens the sensor that is lower set detects the gun has descended all the way and the machine can proceed to take the stone and then the gun goes back up which then the upper most sensor on the swing gun detects the gun has returned and it is safe to move onto the next step. If either one of these sensors do not detect if the gun has descended or returned, the error GUN UP/DOWN Sensor message will be seen on the machine control panel. Gun Up/Down sensor errors may not mean the sensor is bad, the issue may have been caused by a mechanical bind in the way the gun moves up and down and simple maintenance may all that is required to correct the issue, But once these are ruled out then the sensor would then be recommended to be replaced.

Tools Needed:
1) Phillips Screw Driver 2) 2.5 mm Allen Wrench 2) News Gun up/down Sensor with supplied small Allen wrench. 3) 3 in 1 oil or machine oil. Testing the Gun for mechanical bind: With the air switch set to OFF, grab the gun by hand and move it to the down position and back up and see if there is any binding of its movement, if it is extremely hard to move up and down. Remove the Guns centering screw using the 2.5 mm Allen wrench. Then place some oil around the gun rod where the bracket bushing encircles the gun rod.

Now move the gun up and down and rotate it to work the oil into the bushing (Gold ring that encircles the gun rod inside the bracket). Repeat this until the gun moves up and down smoothly. Re-center the gun rod so that the groove in the gun rod faces the front along with the vacuum fitting and re-insert the 2.5 mm Allen centering screw.

Gun Up/Down Sensor 1V2P

Testing the Gun Up and Down sensor and replacing At the top of your Swing Gun there are 2 sensors, one is higher and the other is lower set. These detect when the gun is in the up position or if the gun is in the down position. If the sensor cannot detect if the gun is up or down then the machine will cease its operation as without sensor detection, damage to moving parts can occur.

The lower of the 2 sensor detects when the gun is down in the plate taking a stone, and the higher of the two sensors detect when the gun is in the up position. Another way of determining which sensor is the faulty one, Is to look at the yellow LED light on the sensors, when the gun is in the up position ONLY the Yellow LED light on the upper most sensor should be illuminated, if the lower one is also on then of course the lower sensor is grounding out and confusing the machine. If the gun is in the down position (Extended down into the plate) then only the Lower of the 2 sensors Yellow LED light should be illuminated, if the upper most Sensor is also lit up, and then the issue would be with the Higher of the two sensors. Another way of determining if we have proper operation of the sensors is to go to the INPUT menu. The IN0 #7 will show an "I" when the gun is in the UP position, And when the gun is in the DOWN position the IN0 #7 will be a "." and the IN0 #6 will turn from a dot to an "I". With AIR SWITCH OFF, Move the gun UP and DOWN by hand and watch the "I" coming off and on the IN0 #6 and & #7 when the gun is brought Up and down repeatedly,
If ever you see both "I" on at the same time or No "I" on at any given time, then there is a problem.

Gun Up/Down Sensor 1V2P

If the gun is in the UP position and you see and "I" in the #7 and #6 position then the Lower sensor is the problem cause when the gun is up only #7 should show and "I" and #6 should be a dot.

Once you know which of the 2 sensors is bad, then we can replace it.

In the bag that has the new sensor there is a small silver Allen wrench, Go ahead and grab it and loosen the Allen screw on the head of the sensor. Also remove the back cover from the machine.

Gun Up/Down Sensor 1V2P

Remove the Back Cover of the machine, and remove the cover that hides all the wires towards the top of the board by squeezing the side and slide the cover off. Locate the wire for the sensor you are replacing and carefully fish it out and disconnect it from the board. If it is the Gun Down sensor you will find connector #6 and disconnect it from the board, if it is the Gun up Sensor, then look for connector #7 and disconnect it. Fish the new sensor into the machine by first sliding the new sensor into the guns sensor holder and secure the Allen screw, Fish the Connector part towards the back of the machine just like the old sensor was fished through it (Leave enough wire in the front to allow the gun to swing left and right without tugging on the wire when the gun swings. Fish it through the Sire harness (Where all the wires are hidden) and plug into the correct connection site on the green board. Printed under the connectors on the board are numbers, #1 starts from the left and goes higher as you go right. Plug new sensor into the connection site of board.

The sensors connect to the back board. Connector 6 is the gun down sensor and connector 7 is the gun up sensor connection point.
