2014 Spring Training: Scheduled to make his first spring start tomorrow vs. the Indians in Goodyear. Did not pitch last season, recovering from Tommy John surgery on his left elbow performed Oct. 30, 2012 by Dr. Lewis Yocum. Last pitched in the Majors in 2012, combining to make 30 appearances (26 starts) with the Milwaukee Brewers and Baltimore Orioles Appeared in 376 games (368 starts) during 14-season Major League career with the Phillies (1999-2006), Dodgers (2007, 2009), Padres (2008), Astros (2008), Brewers (2010-12) and Orioles (2012). 368 starts are 5th-most among active pitchers and 2,268.0 innings pitched are 6th-most. Logged 7 seasons with 30-or-more starts (last: 33 in 2011) and 6 seasons with 200-or-more innings pitched (last: 212.1 IP in 2011). Over a three-season stretch from 2009-2011 with the Dodgers and Brewers, combined to go 37-29 with a 3.70 ERA, while logging at least 200.0 innings and 30 starts in each season. Originally selected by the Phillies in the 2nd round of the 1997 June Draft out of Pepperdine University.

Stranded 37 of 53 inherited runners (69.8%); 5th-most IR among AL relief pitchers. Tied for MLB lead and set Mariners monthly record with 9 holds in August. Originally signed by Seattle as a non-drafted free agent on July 25, 2005.

#52 Ramon Ramirez (rhp):

2014 Spring Training: 2-0, 3.00 in 2 G: W #2 3/3 vs. COL (2.0 IP, 1 H)...W #1 2/28 at SD (1.0 IP, 1 ER). Went 0-0 with an 11.12 ERA (7 ER, 5.2 IP) in 6 relief appearances with the San Francisco Giants in 2013also appeared in 27 games in the minor leagues split between the San Francisco and Tampa Bay organizations. Has pitched in parts of eight seasons in the Colorado (2006-2007), Kansas City (2008), Boston (2009-2010), San Francisco (20102011, 2013) and New York Mets organizations (2012). Member of the Giants 2010 World Championship squad posting a 0.67 ERA (2 ER, 27.0 IP) in 25 relief appearances during the final two months of the season. Originally signed by Texas as a 16-year-old outfielder, but was converted to pitcher, and did not make his US professional debut until 2003 in the New York Yankees organization. Signed by Seattle as a minor league free agent on January 2, 2014.

#73 Carson Smith (rhp):

2014 Spring Training: Allowed one hit but struck out the side in 1.0 ShO inning on 2/28 at SD. Named the Mariners 2013 Minor League Relief Pitcher of the Year. Went 1-3 with 15 saves in 44 relief appearances with AA Jackson in 2013limited opponents to a .183 average (33x180). Allowed only 5 runs over his last 38 relief appearances (1-1-12, 1.01 ERA), lower his season ERA from 8.44 to 1.80. Appeared in 5 games with the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League. Originally selected by the Mariners in the 8th round of the 2011 June Draft out of Texas State University.

#38 Logan Bawcom (rhp):

2014 Spring Training: 0-1, 40.50 in 1 G: allowed 3 R HR in 0.2 IP (3 H, 1 BB, 1 K) 3/2 at CLE. Spent the entire 2013 season with AAA Tacoma posting a 2.91 ERA and 21 saves in 51 games. Led all Mariners minor leaguers with 21 saves (in 24 opportunities)named the Tacoma Rainiers Pitcher of the Year. Posted 47 saves over last two seasons (2012-2013), trailing only Jose Valdez (DET) for the minor league lead over that span. Acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers with Leon Landry (of) in exchange for Brandon League (rhp) on July 30, 2012. Played college baseball at the University of Texas-Arlington.

#68 Nick Hill (lhp):

2014 Spring Training: 0-0-1, 0.00 in 2 G this spring & has retired all 6 BF: SV #1 w/1-2-3 9th 3/3 at CIN; Kd all 3 BF protecting 6-5 lead... tossed 1.0 ShO IP, retiring all 3 BF 2/28 at SD. Returned to the mound last season after missing most of 2011 & 2012 seasons due to injury. Missed 2011 season after following Tommy John surgery on his left elbow and most of 2012 with a stress fracture in his left foot. Combined to post a 2.22 ERA (13 ER, 52.2 IP) and a .235 opponent batting average (46x196) in 44 relief appearances. Participated in Major League Spring Training as a non-roster invitee in 2010. Ranks 2nd in Army history with 33 career winsmember of Team USA in 2006. Would become just second player from West Point to appear in a Major League game and first since Walt French, 1923-29.

#71 Dominic Leone (rhp):

2014 Spring Training: 0-0-1, 0.00 in 3 G: SV #1 w/1-2-3 9th 3/4 at LAD...retired only BF 3/2 at CLE...2 H, GIDP in ShO 9th 2/28 at SD. Combined to post a 2.25 ERA (16 ER, 64.0 IP), .212 opponent batting average and a 1.031 WHIP in 48 appearances combined between A Clinton, A High Desert and AA Jackson. Ranked 2nd among Mariners minor leaguers with 16 saves (in 17 save opps). Led the Arizona Fall League in 2013 with 6 saves (0-1, 3.00 ERA, 11 G, 15 K, 1 BB) for the Peoria Javelinas. Originally selected by the Mariners in the 16th round of the 2012 MLB First-Year Player draft out of Clemson Universitycollege teammates with Mariners infielder Brad Miller.

Had two separate stints with the Mariners, April 1-30 and June 6-July 11, appearing in 12 games, 2 starts. Went 0-1 with a 5.28 ERA (17 ER, 29.0 IP) in 10 relief appearances and 0-1 with an 8.44 ERA (10 ER, 10.2 IP) in 2 startshad never appeared in a game in relief in his pro or amateur career prior to 2013. Finished 6-6 with a 5.55 ERA (58 ER, 94.0 IP) in 16 starts with AAA Tacoma. Went 11-11 with 4.43 ERA in 26 starts for the Mariners in 2012ranked 2nd in AL with 1.42 walks per 9.0 innings (Colon - 1.36).
