1. Ctrl+Z is the magic undo combo. It simply undoes your last action, say, the paragraph you accidentally erased (it works in other applications, too--try it on the Photoshop ilter you really wish you hadn!t applied, or a ter renaming a document or a older in a "indows directory#. Programs $ary in the number o times you can undo something, but some will let you Ctrl+Z all the way back to the beginning. (%nd, yes, there is a redo command, &ust hit Ctrl+'.# Ctrl+), Ctrl+I, or Ctrl+* apply bold, italics, or underline to highlighted te+t, respecti$ely. Ctrl+P prints whate$er is in an acti$e window. Ctrl+)ackspace erases an entire word at a time, instead o a letter. Ctrl+up or down arrows let you scroll an entire paragraph at a time, instead o one line, and Ctrl+.hi t+up or down arrow will select an entire paragraph. In 5utlook, you can &ump to the section you want6 Ctrl+1 switches to the 7ail window, Ctrl+( switches to the Calender, Ctrl+, to Contacts, Ctrl+- to 3asks, and Ctrl+/ to 8otes. Ctrl+.hi t+7 starts a new message in 5utlook. (*se Ctrl+.hi t+C or a new contact.# In 5utlook e-mail, hit Ctrl+8 to compose a new message, Ctrl+2 to reply to a message. 3he only 0+cel shortcut I!$e e$er known, Ctrl+, enters the date. <eyboard shortcuts are a great way to keep things mo$ing when you!re using your computer, and they let you per orm tasks without li ting your hands rom the keyboard. 3hese are some o the basics that you should know--at least i you want to cut down on the number o times you reach or the mouse e$ery day.

'ou can, or e+ample, paste in a older path, such as C6H?ocuments and .ettingsHIusernameJH7y ?ocumentsH0+penses, and "indows will open it automatically. 'ou can also use the 2un dialog to open 7icroso t applications such as "ord, 0+cel, or 8otepad. Kust type winword to launch "ord, type excel to launch 0+cel, and notepad to launch 8otepad. "indows+0 launches "indows 0+plorer, de aulting to 7y Computer. =( renames a selected ile or older. (3hese results look similar, but they!re slightly di erentG "indows+7 minimiLes all windows that support the command, while "indows+? actually raises the desktop to the top.# 3his is a great one or when the boss pops up in your cubicle. 5nce the boss gone, hit .hi t+"indows+7 to bring up your minimiLed windows, or "indows+? to drop your desktop back down again.
