FOREWORD

Fun with English is a series of book designed for elementary school students. The main purpose of the book is to acquaint the students with English since the first year of their elementary education. Another purposes of this book are to help them grow with English and learn it with more enjoyable. Fun with English contains 5 lesson units and each unit has four sub-units. The lesson units are theme-based to some degree sequential and structured. Each lesson unit presents approximately ten new words related to the theme, one or two language functions and review. The sentence patterns are not presented in the form of rules; they are presented inductively through the rpeated use of the patterns in the relevant sections in each unit, particularly in the dialogues, reading and writing. Although each section in a lesson unit primarily serves a particular purpose, a creative or skillful teacher can use almost all the section in each unit to help the students develop the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. To make students enjoy learing English, each unit contains some language games and song. Although carefully designed and developed, the book is not perfect and there are always rooms for improvement. Therefore, the author would like to invite suggestions and criticism from users for the improvement of the book.

UNIT 1
Teaching Concept The teaching concept of the unit 1 is focused on listening skill of the students. By the theme of Lets do it is hoped the students will be able to receive the information spoken in English and to response those information and instruction well, being able to practice those instruction with their classmates or people around them and finally is to be able to pour them into the written form about instructions. The instruction given in this unit contains some simple expressions such as Get Up!, Open the door!, Come Forward!, Raise your hand! and another examples related to the activity in their classrooms. Some teaching activities in this unit are not only giving the students an instruction and asking them to make notes, but also applying some exciting and enjoyable activities such as games and sing a song. The main purpose in this unit is to give the students an output, a good output. The good output that is expected are in the end of this teaching and learning process, students are expected to be able to receive, response and do well some instruction spoken in English.

UNIT 2
Teaching Concept The teaching concept of the unit 2 is focused on enriching vocabulary of the students. By the theme of My Body Parts is hoped the students will be able to identify some parts of body and to pronunce and write some parts of body in English. The vocabularies given in this unit contains some simple and general parts of body such as Head, ears, hands, feet, and another vocabularies related to the body parts of human. The teaching and learning activities in this unit are not only giving the students new vocabularies related to the topic and asking them to make notes, but also applying some exciting and enjoyable activities such as games by matching pictures with words and sing a song. The main purpose in this unit is to give the students an output, a good output. The good output expected in the end of this teaching and learning process, students are expected to be able to memorize, pronunce and write those vocabularies in English.

UNIT 3
Teaching Concept The teaching concept of the unit 3 is more focused on Speaking skill of the students. The theme taken in this unit is What is your hobby?. The objectives in this unit are the students will be able to express their own hobbies, to response questions about hobby orally and to read aloud some expression of asking and responding the hobby. The expressions given in this unit contains some simple expressions such as What is your hobby?, what is Wibis hobby? ,May hobby is ..., His hobby is .... and another examples related to the activity in their classrooms. The activities of teaching and learning in this unit are not only giving the students information about the expression of asking and answering about hobby and asking them to make notes, but also applying some exciting and enjoyable activities such as practising the dialogue, making a role play and sing a song. The main purpose in this unit is to give the students an excellent output. The output expected in the end of this teaching and learning process, students are expected to be able to express, to ask and to response some expressions of hobby in a meaningful way and of course in English.

UNIT 4
Teaching Concept The teaching concept of the unit 4 is focused on vocabulary enrichment of the students. By the theme of My Family students are expected to be able to know vocabularies related to family. The material given in this unit contains some vocabularies about family, such as mother, brother, sister, father and another family members, and some sentences like I have one sister, I do not have brother. Some teaching activities in this unit are not only giving the students knowledge about family and asking them to make notes, but also applying some exciting and enjoyable activities such as games like make a dialogue with friends and sing a song. The main purpose in this unit is to give the students an output, a good output. The good output that is expected are in the end of this teaching and learning process, students are expected to be able to know about vocabulary list about family and to make sentences related to this theme.

UNIT 5
Teaching Concept The teaching concept of the unit 4 is focused on Grammar of the students. By the theme of My Favourite Foods is expected the students will be able to know the grammar used in common conversation and daily life. The material given in this unit contains some simple expressions about favourite foods, such as I like pizza, She loves cakes, They do not like friedrice and so on. Some teaching activities in this unit are not only giving the students knowledge about grammar and asking them to make notes, but also applying some exciting and enjoyable activities such as games like colour parsing and sing a song. The main purpose in this unit is to give the students an output, a good output. The good output that is expected are in the end of this teaching and learning process, students are expected to be able to know about grammar of simple present and to make sentences in simple present form.
