I was quite shocked that this Audi did not have a wiper sensor.

I even went another step and removed the washer bottle and cut part of the wiring loom back near the washer motor looking for tucked back wire. Nothing.. Part #s Wiper Arm Needed = 8P0 953 519 A Terminal and Wire = 000-979-009 A (needed if you do not have a washer bottle level sensor) See notes below on installing. Directions = You will need instrument cluster # 8P0 920 981 E , You will find this # on the back of your instrument cluster itself (on the top) or in VAG-COM section > 17. With any coding write down your old code first just incase. Next with VAG-COM go into Steering Column> 16. Change your coding to 0012142. (my old code was 0012122) Next with VAG-COM go into Instrument Cluster > 17. Change your coding to 0000262. (my old code was 0002263) By doing this your Instrument cluster will now comunicate with your Steering Column module. At this point you will find out if you have a Washer Level Sensor or not. If you DO NOT you will need to add a ground wire to terminal # 20 blue terminal at the back of the instrument cluster. This is where part # 000-979-009 A comes into play. You will now see distance to empty on your Trip Meter readout. Adding the Wiper Switch is next. For this I recommend to have it installed with someone who knows how to remove the airbag etc.

Turn the steering wheel 90 degrees from centre to the left (counter-clockwise) and remove the cover in the image below.

Turn the steering wheel 90 degrees from centre to the right (clockwise) and repeat the procedure. Once both torx screws have been undone the airbag should just come off. Disconnect the yellow connector by pulling out on the orange tab.

If you have the MFSW you will also need to disconnect theblack tab to the right.

Set the airbag aside with the Audi logo facing up so that if the airbag does go off it won't shoot The steering off wheel like should now a look like rocket! this

Next remove the bolt in the centre using a 12mm 12pin bit. When the bolt is out you need to mark the wheel and the slip ring so that when you put the wheel back on it is in the same position.

Next remove the top of the steering column by unclipping it and then remove the two torx screws from the lower surround.

Then remove the three torx screws from the underside of the steering column. One of these holds the surround the the column and the other two hold the column lock to a Once the scews are off metal the column surround should come bar. off.

Next you will need to break the seal on the steering ECU and remove the small silver torx 11 screw from under the slip ring

Once that is off the next step is to carefully remove the printed circuit board. It can be pried down using a small screwdriver.

Once you have it down remove the black and yellow connectors from the PCB. The yellow one can be removed by pusing back on the orange lever.

The black one can be removed by releasing the red clip and then releasing the clip.
