Britain to raise investment in Vietnam to us$3 billion
Hanoi _Britain will increase its investment in Vietnam from over $2 billion at the moment to 3$ billion in the near future ,it was agreed during a meeting between Prince Andrew and Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on October 7 ,in Hanoi At the meeting ,British Prince Andrew said Britain was committed to continuing the official development assistance (ODA) it provides to Vietnam for efforts to combat climate change and sea level rise. Britain has also proposed that European Commission not extend the imposition of anti-dumping tariff on Vietnam’s leather shoe exports to EU market, Prince Andrew said. As part of his two-day trip to Vietnam, Prince Andrew joined the third meeting of the UK-Vietnam Joint Economic and Trade Committee (JETCO). Established in September, 2007, JETCO works to promote and develop commerce, to create the commercial barriers and to create the better business environment ties between the two countries Meeting the journalists after the meeting, Andrew Cahn, CEO of UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) said that Vietnam has made itself become the destination for the businesses on their ways to other economies in Meridian. ’’Vietnam’s appropriate authorities are enthusiasm for cooperation of foreign businesses. I really want to make very effort to encourage the UK businesses to take full advantage of available opportunities and to support their success in Vietnam”, he said.
