Causes of Stress Among Students If you're a student, you've probably noticed that you're experiencing stress that stems

from many different areas. School can be an exciting time of growth and personal development, making new friendships and being intellectually challenged, but with these positive experiences also comes the stress from many changes taking place at once. Worries about academic performance, peer pressure, bullying at school and problems at home can all have an impact on your physical and mental state of mind. Firstly, one of the most important causes of stress for students is the cramming of examination. Most students have anxiety a lot about quizzes and tests that have a decisive effect of their transcription. Because of this, for instance, students feel that they are harassed. Stress happens to both excellent and weak student. For good students, they get pressure to excel by parents and teachers, emphasis on distinctions and to obtain scholarship to further study on the future. By the way, for weak students, they also get great pressure of coping with schoolwork and fear of failing in study. In other way, some students do a lot of studying at the last minute believing they know all the materials in one night, even staying up all night studying not getting enough sleep. Also, students are always worried a lot about what is going to be on the test, or they believe they have not studied hard enough for the test. Students think that they will fail the test, for this can lead to feeling upset. If a student fails an exam, they might give up trying and not be able to not focus on their study anymore. Secondly, one of the causes of the stress among students is peer pressure. Peer pressure is when students are trying to fit in with friends and taking part in questionable activities with friends. This kind of pressure is greater especially among new students. Friends also usually persuade you to do something like you never do before. This peer pressure is coerced into doing something that you did not want. Nowadays we can see that bullying is very common among students and this has become a big factor that causes stress among students. Students who are bullied feel inferior and insecure and usually most of them are afraid to complain because they are afraid of the consequences afterwards. They cannot focus on study and anything else because of this, and they will also feel like not going to school anymore. But we must also know why bullying happens. The perpetrators of bullying usually facing pressure themselves and have emotional problems which lead them to bullying behaviour. So we really cannot blame them only in this case because everything happens for a reason. Problems that occur at school among students usually come from their home, means that they have problems at home. Today we can see that parents are very busy with their career and lead to lack of communications and guidance for their kids. They put the responsibility to educate and take care of their kids to school and maids. There are also cases like parents and siblings who do not get along with each other, which will cause to loneliness and do not have any person to talk about their problems. Divorce, separation and financial problems also give great impact on students. They get pressure with problems to choose who they want to live with and have to bear with sadness and embarrassment. In

case of financial problems, some students have to work in part-time to support their tuitions and living expenses after class. So we can see how all of these give great stress to students and they especially teenagers that going through puberty tends to rebel because the pressure. As we know, every problem has its very own solution. Stress can be eliminated rather easily or hardly. People that tend to get stress easily must know how to eliminate it. The easy way to get release form stress is talk to somebody about the pressure they get. Seek help from counselors or trusted elderly relatives. Sharing our concerns will cause us less stress. The other way is when facing any problem or pressure, take time off to rest and relax, so that we can think the solution of the problem wisely and lee our burden a little bit. Last but not least, it is important to spend time with cheerful people so that life can be happy and positive.
