Disability studies and inclusive teacher preparation: a socially just path for teacher education.
Syracuse University has combined its elementary education programs since 1990 for gen ed and special ed.
Cost of alt ed special ed$5,500 local $10,500 long distance $14,500 Internship Cost of private school$25,000 Also reviewed course content in alt programs. Found employment history to be higher in alt ed program graduates Teacher-In-Residence training programs required a 3 week intensive classroom management course before starting their teaching assignment. TIR was only teacher prep program that targeted any classroom management strategies. Syracuse has combined the general education and special education teacher credential programs so that all teachers feel ownership of every child. There is no delineation of disabilities.
Delve deeper into where teachers need more emphasis and evaluate what teacher prep programs are actually targeting Possible target audience at each prep program.
I am well aware teacher prep programs for special education arent preparing our teachers adequately.
I could analyze specifically teacher preparation programs and special education- instead of being specific about solely classroom management. Doesnt reshape my research
I didnt care for this article. I almost wondered if it was sponsored by an alternative education school. It also stated private school is $25,000 but where is the public university That would be far more comparable to alt ed prices.

This was very interesting as I had actually never heard of a 3 week intensive classroom management boot camp type offering. This is something CSUSB should do.
This research has created some more pondering in what the classroom management offering are really entailing. Not just if the university has a program, but the content as well.
I was just looking to see if teacher prep programs were offering any classroom management courses. I may now look into the content.
Historically special education has been defined as a deficit that needs identification and remediation. The article poses the idea that special education identification can be not viewed as a negative.
I had never heard of any programs that combine general education and special education preparation programs. It does promote ownership of all students.
I need to look at the content of each special education teacher prep programs, not just the course guide.
