The first meeting house for the Igreja de Cristo de Monte Siao will be built this year. (From the OAS Weekly Newsletter, January 7, 1974.) According to the January 7, OAS Weekly Newsletter, Peru is developing her automotive industry to supply the "Andean market". The Japanese Toyota corporation has an exclusive franchise through the Peruvian Government's policy of industrial nationalization. This decision to have a unified, single, auto vehicle industry will probably lead to the closing down of Chrysler, Volkswagen, and Nissan-Datsun plants there (this has already happened to British Leyland, General Motors and
Ford).

BRAZIL CHRISTIAN MISSION IS

^1

Brazil Christian Mission is a growing ministry. This has been true ever since Lloyd David and Ruth Sanders and
their fellow missionaries, friends and

supporters formally organized their efforts under that title to present a Christian evangelistic witness and to found churches patterned after the New. Testament Scriptures in Brazil. In 1950, BCM became a religious, benevolent, non-profit corporation under the laws of|
the State of Oklahoma. J. Richard and,

Carolee Ewing, and Ruth Spurgeonj (now Mrs. Homer McKinley) were the!
Sanders closest associates and coworkers. Brazil Christian Mission is now a

since 1960 was begun March 8, 9 and 10 in the suburb of New Horizons. Gai^. BjurrelJ and.EarLHaubner, missionaries living in Goiania, worked together with Christian Institute Director, Aurelino Mendes and students in putting up large signs in the
streets and in distributing printed invitations to the 'grand opening' to every house in New Horizons. Preaching and Bible teaching films were presented in the center of town and, on Sunday night, in front of the "church house." Average attendance for the three nights of open-air services utas. ovqr .3.00.. Attendance in Bible School on the 10th was 75. The requirements for teaching in regard to educational background, previous teacing experience, language ability, age, and certification, vary depending upon the program. The length of appointments abo varies; cultural exchange awards are usually tenable for an academic year, while some other programs require a commitment of several years. The continuing education of mission ary children on the field runs up to $1,200.00 a year per child. Travel to the United States, one-way, amounts to $400.00 to $567.00 per adult, depending on the city. Medical doctors in Brazil charge $25.00 per visit. Poor Brazilian people, through the government, get

CERES MT. ZION

CHURCH

Construction began May 15. 1974 on the first permanent building of the Ceres Mt. Zion Church. Blue prints were drawn up in April for a building which would
house an auditorium and four classrooms. Much of the

work involved those interested in seeing the church building become a reality for the Lord. A civil engineer who now lives in Goiunia, donated technical supervision, church members and others of the community donated material, freight and labor. In order that the building could be fini.shed sufficiently to serve as a meeting place before the McAfees' furlough, mission funds were borrowed which will be repaid by the congregation from designated offerings. This was done in order to avoid

spiraling costs on labor, materials and service which

would result, were the construction to stop while the McAfees are on furlough.

Dedication Day finally arrived for the new building on July 28, 1974. Besides being the first time the congregation met in the new facilities, the special services also served to set apart new leadership and transfer
duties so that the work would continue smoothly through

the McAfees' furlough. Many missionaries and local preachers participated in the meetings, as did L. David Sanders, who will serve as senior minister during the McAfees' furlough, visiting the church one Sunday a
month.

The services also served to give special recognition to the various leaders in the church, and also to Steven and Philip McAfee, who had special responsibilities in assistance and outreach. Many people participated in these services from various other Christian churches, such as the Brasilia youth

group, the "Christ's Youth" singers who presented

special music.
