Brief History of Our Lady of Fatima Parish

The parish of Our Lady of Fatima Parish in Las Pias was formally established on March 14, 1975, when the Philamlife Insurance Company donated the village ecumenical chapel and its site to the Roman Catholic Archbishop of Manila. Fr. Josefino Ramirez came as the first parish priest in April 1976. On August 7, 1976, His Eminence Jaime Cardinal Sin officiated at ceremonies for the formal construction of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and the installation of Fr. Ramirez, as the first parish priest. Prior to this, there had been no permanent structure that served as a place of worship, nor any formal organization that served the spiritual needs of the residents of Philam on a regular basis. On February 9, 1975, upon the motion of Board Secretary Mrs. Severina Crisostomo, the PVHA Board of Directors unanimously approved of a resolution supporting the clamor among the village residents to convert the chapel into a parish church. Following protracted negotiations between the Philamlife Insurance Company and the PVHA Committee on Religious Affairs, the drive for a chapel had its first major breakdown in 1971, when with a new PVHA Board of Directors, the developers gave P50,000 and the villagers contributed P40,000. On February 9, 1975, upon the motion of the Board of Secretary Mrs. Severina Crisostomo, the PVHA Board of Directors unanimously approved a resolution supporting the clamor among the village residents to convert the chapel into a parish church. With the vigorous growth of surrounding villages the need for spiritual ministry also increased. The coverage of the parish had extended to as many 21 villages. On April 26, 1986, Dona Manuela Subdivision was organized, together with other villages, into a separate parish, the Good Shepherd Parish. On May 2, 1986, 10 additional villages were organized into the Last Supper of Our Lord Parish. As a result, Our Lady of Fatima Parish now compromises only 13 villages, namely:

Asuncion, Crismarcel, Fesan Court, Greymarville, Pamplona Park, Remarville, Sterlinglife, Philamlife, St. Marys, Sta. Cecilia and San Beda, VAA, Patricia Homes, and Manggahan. Msgr. Ramirez served as a parish priest from August 7, 1976 to January 25, 1983. He was succeeded by Rev. Fr. Renato C. Frias whose term as a parish priest began on February 8, 1983. Fr. Eugene Castaneda came in mid February of 1986, and was replaced by the Rev. Roy Rosales who has been with us since February 1990 and Rev. Mario Sanchez who has also been with us since June of 1998. It is a lasting legacy from the first generation residents of the Almighty, and His allabiding love and mercy, through the intercession of His Blessed Mother. It may not be different from many places of worship around us, but for us and our childrens children, it is special because it is part of our homesa place for refuge from lifes trials and tribulations.
