Abu Dhabi 24MAR2014 Dear Riders, I hope you all do good and enjoying your time on the beaches

of the UAE. I am taking the opportunity here to explain what is going on for the SUP/SURF and what we do except for the future. One of our aim is to have a closer cooperation with the community. By making the community participating in our projects, delegating responsibilities to some people in the community we will create a better synergy to expose their own community in the UAE as safe and fun sport. But this will happen only with the good will of every one. And when I am saying good will, I mean the ESSA and the Community. It is not one way or the highway. I would like you to understand a very important point. The ESSA is no longer since 10 days like it used to be A committee without juridical power. If you are not aware of the WAM meaning, (http://www.wam.org.ae/servlet/Satellite?c=Page&cid=1135099399988&pagename=WAM%2FWAM_E _Layout) as the official publication platform of the UAE, then I highly recommend you to click on the above link and read to avoid misunderstandings in reference to the future. To resume, when the UAE Gov needs to officialize a matter, the Ministry of Information will releases publicly the information through the WAM, it becomes official as a decree enforcing a new Law. The fundamentals of the ESSA and the EKA as Committees without juridical authority has changed to Committees with juridical authorities has been approved OFFICIALLY. The two Committees are in direct talks with other governmental bodies (Municipalities, Sports Councils, Clubs, Police, Coast Guards, Committees, Associations etc... Except Ministries). For our daily work, we do not go through the UAE SARF because the Committees have been delegated with a confined juridical authority to act as the sole Authority managing their related sports on behalf of the UAE SARF. Of course we have a closed loop principles with the SARF they are always aware about our work and initiatives. I do apology and I understand all these terms are boring to read, I dont like it as well, but it is a necessity for everyone to understand who we are, what we are doing and how we are functioning to avoid any misunderstanding. And I thank you for your understanding. We did a huge improvement with the Dubai Municipality (DM), the Dubai Sports Council we have reached mutual agreements, and we were able to authorize initially some event (under the name of ESSA/EKA) with DM and Sports Council approval. We will be able to resume activities like schooling and training, but subject to specific conditions. Note: Rivalries between people inside their own community is a matter of politics and will negatively impacts any of the communitys image and we dont support such manners, Again we dont support politics. So please stay away from that and be active towards your sport. Dont do anything wrong which will jeopardizes the wellbeing of your community, dont think only about your personal interests. Thank you.

Facts; Standup Paddle: The sup in the UAE is actually running smoothly, we have some minor issues but all in all the SUP community is actually active, especially in Abu Dhabi, as an example, we have seen and recognized that the Emirates Palace Sup Festival 2014 was a great enjoyment for everyone. And on behalf the ESSA team, The ESSAs Chairman and I, we would like to express our gratitude to the whole SUP community in the UAE for the good job and especially in Abu Dhabi. We are aware that this season the SUP LEAGUE was quiet, this is due to regulations, we do apology for that and next year will be much better. But if you have ideas or any proposal please send an email to info@essasurf.com and we promise we will get back to you with an answer. The SUP community needs more dynamic ways to attract positive interest from the population. Actually the SUP is the sport who has the more potential to be developed in the UAE and this can only be done with the commitment of the SUP Community. The ESSA cant do everything and cant be everywhere by itself so the community needs to be involved with us to create a big synergy. Thank you. SURF: The Surf in term of activities is actually very latent in the UAE. The only and 1st event after the general ban which has been approved is the ESSA SUNSET OPEN for this year. On our side we will have a total 6+1 competitions for UAE SURF LEAGUE 2014-2015, 3 competitions in Dubai and 3 competitions in Al Ain and Plus One which is a surprise. Same thing here the community needs to be more active in term of POSITIVE exposure, local competitions are the best thing to revive the activities, open days to the population is a good aspect toward the local beach lifestyle, for the Surf there is enough riders in the region, what we are missing is some stimulus to get back the right image of the Surf in the UAE. If you have ideas or any proposal please send an email to info@essasurf.com. Thank You. I would like to thank you for taking the time to read all the above, and we will see you very soon in a meeting before the All Stars 2014. Sincerely Yours, ESSA Acting Chairman
