Following are the norms you need to follow for your report.

I have already discussed these Norms and most of you aware of this pl. apply and bring the soft copy.

The pre-thesis report should have the following-

NORMS 1. Draft copy: the draft copy of the dissertation should be given for correction to the guide and after it is approved for final print outs then binding can be done. 2. Binding: hard bound with respect to the colour code 3. Cover page: The cover page can be decided by you 4. Abstract: it should contain the important features of the matter contained in the individual chapters. Abstract should not exceed 200 words 5. List of figures: it should indicate figure number, figure title and corresponding page number. The figure number should be in decimal notation indicating the chapter number and figure number in that chapter. . 6. Contents: it should indicate title of chapters, sections, sub-sections etc. using the decimal notation with corresponding page numbers against them. 7. Page numbering: The page number should be on the bottom centrally located. All pages including those with figures must have page numbers. 8. Chapter numbering: Titles of the chapters, sections, subsections shall be in block letters, for sub-subsections 1st letter should be in capital. The chapter number and title should be properly centred at the top of the page. 9. Introduction: it will form CHAPTER 1 of the report. It define the topic. 10. Conclusion: This will form the last chapter of the report. The discussion should logically lead to certain conclusions and inferences. 11. Bibliography: Bibliography should be as per standard research norms 12. Page setup: Top margin: 1.25, bottom margin: 1.0, left margin: 1.5, right margin: 1.0 Line spacing: 1.5, text-justified, written matter font size: 12, font-Times New Roman Paragraph spacing- paragraph indentation-single/double tab Written matter should be in third person (use of I, We, You etc. should be avoided) and in present tense as far as possible.

Batch 1 and Batch 2;

The pre-thesis report should have the following-cover page (same cover page should be followed by everyone) -contents/index -topic introduction -abstract -preliminary research -justification -aims and objectives -literature study/desktop study -case study -location and justification for the location -bibliography/references For all the report submissions, the following should be followed: MarginsTop margin: 1.25, bottom margin: 1.0, left margin: 1.5, right margin: 1.0, textmain topic font size-14 (UPPER CASE) should be in the centre of the page Topic font size-12(UPPER CASE) sub-topic font size-12 (lower case) written matter font size: 12, font-Times New Roman, Line spacing: 1.5 Paragraph indentation- single tab space at the start of each paragraph. (No bullet points should be provided. Text should be in the form of paragraphs) Written matter should be in third person (use of I, We, You etc. should be avoided) and in present tense as far as possible. Figures/picturesSupport your report with relevant pictures/figures. Number he figures as per the topic number (FONT-10 in BOLD lettering) (Say you have a picture in 1. INTRODUCTION: number the figures as- fig1.1, fig1.2 and so on...in case you have a figure in the second topic... Then number them as 2.1, 2.2 and so on...) a list of figures should be provided along with the contents with the page numbers.

Other things to be followed-

-start a new topic on a new page. -add page numbers on each page on the right hand side bottom corner. (Font size-8) -add footnotes wherever necessary (font size-8; in italics) -references should be provided at the end of the report. (Use manage source's tool' for the references)

Example of how the numbering should be done in the contents and the text Index/contents format 1. Topic name (say introduction).....................page number (say 1) (Space) 1.1 sub-topic name.........................page number (Space) 1.2 sub-topic name..........................page number 2. Topic name..............................................page number And so on... This should be followed by the list of figures on a new page. ------------Please follow this for the textnumber the topic names and sub-topics... Example1. INTRODUCTION 1.1 SUB-TOPIC NAME and the matter in the next paragraph 1.2 SUB TOPIC NAME and the matter in the next paragraph
