/Amherst Welcome Remarks from the Director, Dr. Madeline L. Peters, Director, Disability Services (DS) 9:30-10:00 AM 15 minute break Session I - 10:15-11:30 AM Struggle: Hitting the Disability Wall Cheryl Howland, Assistant Director, Academic Access (DS) To struggle is popularly seen as a positive response to resistance as an individual seeks to achieve a forward progression, or as a motivation against a resistive force. While there is some truth in this understanding, when it comes to our understandings of struggle related to disability, there is little common ground or understanding and in reality, little shared compassion. This workshop is created to help expand our understanding. We will look at motivation, desire, intention, struggle and anxiety as these concepts pertain to disability and chronic struggle. Particular attention will be paid to the unseen consequences of chronic un-ameliorated struggle to ways and methods that can be used in service to the mitigation of chronic struggle. 15 minute break for break/obtain lunch 11:45 AM-1:00 PM Brown Bag Lunch discussion with Madeline Peters, Benjamin J.
