Date: September 2nd 2011 Re. Vessels trading Far East Handled by: RK Dear Colleague, It is time to join one of our ships and I hope you have enjoyed your time ashore. You are scheduled for a vessel sailing in the Far East and I would like to take this opportunity to explain to you our policy in regards to trading on Japan, taking into account the Tsunami of March 11th 2011 and the subsequent failure at the Fukushima nuclear power plant. Trading on Japan is closely monitored by our SHEQ department with a risk assessment being updated on a regular basis which has prohibited trading on Japan for the first month after the incident due to lack of information and the unstable situation locally. In close communication with vessels staff, trading on Japan was given a green light with the exemption of ports in the neighborhood of Fukushima when the power plant stabilized. As the local situation became under control and the negative travel advise by the Dutch government was lifted, we investigated the possibility to also call the port of Kashima. In close cooperation with vessels staff it was decided to incorporate Kashima in the vessels trade and monitor the radiation levels on board. As the AV vessels have been calling Japan and specifically Kashima several times now and radiation data was gathered by vessels staff it is clear that radiation levels in Japanese ports are as reported by the local government and equal to Rotterdam or Antwerp as you can see on enclosed data. Nevertheless, we will keep monitoring the Japan situation to guarantee your safety. Hoping to have informed you sufficiently. Kind regards, Remko Kloos Manager HR Marine Anthony Veder Rederijzaken BV
