Day 1 Screening Test

Screening Test in SSB:-

The screening test is at first day of the SSB interview. The test comprises of Intelligence Test or Officer Intelligence Test (O.I.R) and . .D.T. tests ict!re erception and Description Test. The tests are aimed to find o!t the analy"ing a#ility of the candidate and to ga!ge their inner mind potential. $et we see in detail a#o!t these two steps. What is Intelligence? Intelligence is defined as the inner a#ility of the candidate to solve partic!lar pro#lem i.e. aptit!de% reasoning etc. Officer Intelligence Rating refers to solve set of pro#lems which consists of #oth ver#al and nonver#al reasoning in a short d!ration of time. So here the time is less and the candidate has to solve more n!m#er of &!estions correctly. $i'e this p!tting the candidate !nder press!re to solve the intelligence &!estions is called as Officer Intelligence Rating. Importance of Intelligence Test at SSB :The mar's o#tained the intelligence test is important since% after getting recommended and clearing the medicals the overall merit or the national level is #ased on this mar's only. Types of Questions asked in SSB for Intelligence Test :There are two types of tests are cond!cted at SSB% to meas!re the candidate innate a#ility% They are 1. S8T - Situation 8eaction Test:Sit!ation Reaction Test is followed after the B-T. The time #etween these tests is of ma=im!m 1< min!tes. The give a &!estion paper and a separate answer sheet for o!r responses. The space given for single answer is ) to ; lines only. So we have to write o!r reaction precise and good. Sit!ation Reaction

Test is nothing #!t o!r response to different life sit!ations. Bhat they e=pect in SRT is to #e practical and the candidate sho!ld win over every sit!ation in a normal practical manner. They dont e=pect the candidate to #e a hero or li'e spiderman to achieve everything li'e a s!per hero. So the reaction sho!ld #e normal% worthf!l and relia#le. 4rom o!r child hood to o!r ad!lt (ages )),)8) we may come across different to!gh or easier sit!ations% $i'e that same sit!ations are given in the &!estion #oo'let. Be have to write down o!r response in the given answer sheet. The total n!m#er of &!estions is 6< and the total time given for the SRT is ;< min!tes. So the time for each &!estion is ;< seconds on an average. So o!r response% handwriting m!st #e good. The important tool to answer the SRT well is o!r presence of mind. Fy piece of advise i.e how to practice SRT is while reading daily news paper yo! may read different sit!ations on news. K!st p!t yo!rself to those sit!ations and analyse how yo! will react li'e that. By these note down yo!r reactions and chec' the &!alities(O$I). Bhy iam telling this means% even if a candidate has less common sense in the sit!ation of emergency% #y practising li'e this he may ac&!ire those things. So this practice is !sef!l for common life also. The respone varies from different age persons in these type of psychological test. So they e=pect o!r mat!rity of tho!ght in o!r replies. O!t of 6< &!estions atleat try to do minim!m of :< &!estions. Try to do ma=im!m #!t with good &!ality. Since in SSB the I!ality matters and not the &!antity. -pproach every sit!ation with right personality(good attit!de). K!st show yo!rself as positive and never show any type of fear in those sit!ations. Since in defence life they dont want a person having fear and negative mentality.

T-!6 in S8T , Sometimes% - imaginary character is created in the SRT &!estions and the candidate has to p!t themself in the place of T?/O and have to react to the sit!ations. !g:T-!6 @ins a lottery of # crore" What he @ill do?

8eaction + 5ives the re&!ired money to his father% and saves some money for f!t!re #!siness and savings. 5ive the remaining money for the rime Finister Relief 4!nd. Analysis of the 8eaction: In this the candidate first p!t himself in the place of JT?/OJ. Then how he reacts is % i.e. the candiate shows himself as a responsi#le candidate #y helping his father and f!t!re savings. -lso he is giving remaining money to the prime minister f!nd% as this shows he is having national spirit and helping tendancy. $i'e this the psychologist will note down yo!r &!alities.i Important:- The time constraint is important in this test% so the candidate has to thin' and wor' fastly as soon as possi#le. ractice well with vario!s real life sit!ations as i told earlier% then s!rely yo! will get eno!gh time to respond to the sit!ation.

Important Tips for S8T:1. Ese telegraphic 'ey words to answer the sentence as this saves time. ). Dont respond more ela#orately% respond precisely in a manner i.e. the psychologist can !nderstand. ;. Dont lose in any sit!ation % the candidate sho!ld not lose in any sit!ation% so write logic response in which candidate sho!ld win in every sit!ation. :. -lso dont G!mp from one &!estion to ne=t% some people say answer the first yo! feel easy. B!t its a#sol!tely wrong % Bhy iam saying is an armed officer

wont switch from one to!gh sit!ation to another easy one% he has to win in every sit!ation. So answer all in a se&!ence and dont G!mp. 8. Try to 'eep in mind% the &!ality is matter and not the &!antity. So give priority to &!ality of the reaction than the &!antity. B!t try to ma=im!m i.e. more than :<. 6. Some sit!ations may #e repeated i.e. the meaning of the &!estion is same #!t the way as'ed is vary. So #e constant in yo!r tho!ghts and responses. 9. Show all yo!r good(O$I) &!alities. Dont show cowardness or fear. Be positive in yo!r reaction. )e@ S8T Questions to practice:1. -ll his family mem#ers are ill and his father is o!t of town. There is no money in the home. Rajesh was studious from his child hood. !e wanted to study his degree in the city college. So for that he studied well at &'th standard and got seat in city college as per his wish. Rajesh continued his good study in college also. Since all of the mem ers in the college came with good marks, all ga#e tough competition to Rajesh. Though he was in the top few ut not in the first. The final year came and he wanted to come first in the department. So he put more time in study and self analysed himself and found the reason for his shortage of marks. $t last he rectified the mistakes and wrote the exam well to come first at the end of semester.

Initiation in +roup iscussion TechniIues:-

There are several techni&!es in the initiation of gro!p disc!ssion. They are as follows+, Real time e=ample initiation techni&!e. Defining a#o!t the topic techni&!e. Interrogatory type techni&!e. Starting with hot iss!es and sailing over that techni&!e.

Esing phrases or &!otes at the starting. $et we see in detail a#o!t each% 8eal time eAample initiation techniIue:

This is the common initiation techni&!e followed #y many in the 5.D. i.e. if the topic given #y the 5.T.O is a#o!t NBRIB/S I* I*DI-N% then the candidate may start the disc!ssion #y giving real time e=amples s!ch as .BI en&!iry for vario!s scams etc. This is merging the theme of the topic with the real time. efining a>out the topic techniIue:This is very #asic initiation techni&!e followed #y most of the persons in 5.D. i.e. if the topic is given the 5.T.O is a#o!t the same NBRIB/S I* I*DI-N% then the candidate may start the disc!ssion as defining a#o!t the root ca!se for the #ri#e% vario!s topic related to #ri#e and pros and cons over the topic. So he is defining a#o!t the topic #y giving a theme so that the team mem#ers can catch !p the point and disc!ss. Interrogatory type techniIue:This is very interesting techni&!e followed the few #old candidates in 5.D. i.e. as'ing interrogatory type things s!ch as what% when% who% how li'e &!estion a#o!t the given topic. Since% this may gives a good or #ad image to the 5.T.O. This is also the same &!estion type initialisation #!t the thing is he didnt gave a s!pportive positive point to his &!estion type initialisation and also the starting seems to #e negative. So avoid this type of initialisation. These are the pros and cons of the interrogatory initialisaton techni&!e. Starting @ith hot issues and sailing oDer that techniIue:This is an interesting techni&!e% giving a hot topic and social welfare topic s!ch that every one will get little more interest to disc!ss a#o! this. !Aample:$et the topic #e NTiger preservation in IndiaN% the start the disc!ssion #y giving a acc!rate statement that the n!m#er of tiger is decreasing rapidly.
