Kicking
off February with a bang with the S.C.R.U.B.S. day event, abbreviation of SHRMs Club Recruitment Ultimate Biannual Social. On that cold Saturday morning, our banner was raised tall and proud upon our tent, calling all SHRMies to Bachman Lawn for a day of fun and excitement! Event hosted by Kainoa Fong, the chapters Director of Student Affairs, who started the day off with a game of an informal introduction. The objective of the activity was for both the returning and prospective students, to learn about each other. It was then followed up with a game of bingo, and an impromptu dance-off between the board members and their squads. While Madame President, Ha Vong, put up a decent fight, she could not defeat our Vice President and Lord of the
Dance, Leon Sheen. In a surprise twist, the twerking of the IT Director, Michael Hoe, resulted in a tie between him and the VP. Unable to decide, the members chanted for a danceoff between the two dance captains and the game was on! Leon dougied as hard as he could, but unfortunately, it was not enough to defeat the IT Director who threw away his shame and became as ratchet as he could be. The students then gathered at Campus Center to grab a complimentary lunch provided by the chapter. Afterwards, the chapter conducted a joint activity with the Entrepreneurs club. We played an indoor game of charades and networking. The overview of S.C.R.U.B.S. was a success. And most importantly the students enjoyed themselves!

BACK-2-BUSINESS
What
better way is
there to end a week than with late night bowling and free energy drinks? Probably a lot, but when you throw in our awesome SHRMies, it becomes pretty hard to beat Lane 12 and 13 at Aiea Bowls Back-to-Business bowling event, hosted by the Shidler
College of Business InterBusiness Council (IBC). When the clock struck midnight, IBC held a danceoff event that pitted each of the presidents against each other in two teams. Even though they tried valiantly, Ha Vong, SHRM Aloha Chapter
president, led the Red Team to victory over the White Team. Over all, the members and alumni who came to the event had a fun night of bowling, games and silly dance off amongst the presidents!

Bank
of Hawaii is one
of Hawaiis leaders in banking. On February 10, Bank of Hawaii was gracious enough to offer us a company tour at one of their branches in downtown, Honolulu, Hawaii. Angel Diep, the SHRM Aloha Chapters Director of Corporate Relations, led the 20+ members from the Aloha Chapter to the BOH visitation site. In this visitation, we were able to network and ask questions to a panel of directors and leader of the company James Mortio, Laser Stiefel, Greg Chilson, and Lyanne. The tour was a huge success, with many of our members !
praising the event. With the panel discussion at the end, our members were able to learn many valuable from the visitation. Huge mahalo to Kelli Henmi & Erica Wallace, from Bank of Hawaii, for helping us set up this wonderful company tour.

Community Service
services for the Great Aloha Run, packet distribution, was held on February 15 at the Neal Blaisdell Exhibition Hall in Waikiki. Although the event took place at 8 in the morning, the chapter members were very excited to take part in this event. The volunteers duties were to explain the different features included in the packets and to ensure that the runners understood the different activities that would be going on that day. This allowed the members to develop better communication and interpersonal skills
With great efficiency, our members amazed the event coordinator with their admirable work ethics.

Acquire SHRMs Knowledge Q1: If you were a super hero, what power would you have?
The power of teleportation. I think it would be so convenient to think of a place and simply appear there. I would be able to travel the world and no longer wait in traffic. Arik Ma
ASK
My super power would be immortality. I would outlive humanity and take over the world. Josh Shon Clock-man. My power is time travel, controller of time. We can fix and learn from the past but also make it right. Riley Ching I would have the power of a super athlete. I can play all the sports and get paid millions in endorsements. Plus I would help SHRM on Super Clubs Day Kenny Cheong
LARSEN MIHO
Alongside our veteran member, we would also like to recognize Larsen Miho as our Rising Star of the Month! Having seen the darker side of clubs in high school and college, Larsen was naturally skeptical of joining another club, but this semester, he has taken the brave step into joining SHRM! When asked why he joined us, he coolly said, I knew a guy who was in SHRM. You can trust this man with your secrets, he wont drop names! Even though he has only been in SHRM for a month, he also praised us saying, SHRM is certainly more organized than any other club Ive been in. The officers know their duties well, are highly motivated, and very approachable. The members themselves are a really cool bunch of people, and overall, its a good club to be in. Just like how he thinks so highly of us, we also think very highly of Larsen! He has proven himself to be a very dedicated and hardworking member, attending the most events out of any new member and displaying a work ethic worthy of his
eternally well-combed hair. At the Great Aloha Run Packet Pickup Distribution event, he helped to assemble the packets so fast and so efficiently that his line was able to take a couple of breaks! At our resume-building workshop, Larsen showed great intrigue and asked the professionals for advice on his resume, obtaining indispensable knowledge and skills on how to market himself to employers, a skill that he hoped to gain from SHRM. He also hopes to improve his interview skills, which I think he will learn all about from Marchs Mock Interview! Larsen is currently a senior majoring in Political Science, and his dream job is to work as an intelligence officer. Keeping your sources anonymous is a great start! It also makes sense how his ideal superpower would be invisibility. His favorite quote is, I dont need luck, though. I dont want it. Ive always had to struggle and fight, and thats made me strong. Its made me who I am. With such epic words to live by, it really shows that Larsen believes in hard work and the fruit that it bears!

1. Stick to the same bedtime and wake up time, even on the weekends.
This helps to regulate your body's clock and could help you fall asleep and stay asleep for the night.
A relaxing, routine activity right before bedtime conducted away from bright lights helps separate your sleep time from activities that can cause excitement, stress or anxiety which can make it more difficult to fall asleep, get sound and deep sleep or remain asleep.
Power napping may help you get through the day, but if you find that you can't fall asleep at bedtime, eliminating even short catnaps may help.
4. Exercise daily.
Vigorous exercise is best, but even light exercise is better than no activity. Exercise at any time of day, but not at the expense of your sleep.
