Waterproofing for Wet Areas

(Enclosed Showers)
Preparation:
1. All surfaces to be waterproofed must be firm, clean, dry, sound and smooth. All grease, oil, wax, curing compounds, loose material, paint and any other contaminants must be removed, masonry surfaces must be pointed flush and surface defects repaired. New concrete must be cured for minimum 28 days. 2. External corners to be waterproofed must be bevelled to ensure a smooth transition of membrane from vertical to horizontal surfaces.

Installation:
1. Installation shall be in accordance with AS 3740-2010 Waterproofing of domestic wet areas. Tile installation shall be in accordance with AS 3958.1-2007 Ceramic tiles - Guide to the installation of ceramic tiles. 2. Install a puddle flange to all waste pipes ensuring that puddle flanges are recessed into substrate. 3. Install Waterstop Streamline at doors and to perimeter of shower. 4. Install Bond Breaker to all internal corners vertically and horizontally using Polyurethane or neutral cure Silicone. 5. Apply WPA 360 Primer to substrate to be waterproofed. WPA 360 is a water based low solids, fast drying primer for use with WPA500 or WPA230 UV waterproofing membranes. Data MSDS 6. Apply two coats of WPA 500 or WPA 230 UV membrane, ensuring that the first coat has completely dried before applying second coat. NOTE: All penetrations, such as screws and taps must be waterproofed. WPA 500 is a waterborne flexible waterproof membrane designed for use under tile finishes. Data MSDS WPA 230 UV is an elastomeric, one part, fibre reinforced, water based polyurethane membrane used for waterproofing shower recesses, bathrooms, laundries, decks, balconies and rooftops. Data MSDS 7. Install ACS Screed to shower base (and bathroom floor if required), ensuring a minimum of 1 : 80 fall to waste in shower area. ACS Screed is a pre-blended screed mixture for the installation of cementitious screeds and beds. Data MSDS 8. Install Floor tiles using CTA Proflex. PROHESIVE PROFLEX is a flexible, polymer modified, cement based adhesive used for wall and floor applications. Data

9. Install Wall tiles using CTA Promastik. CTA Promastik is a high strength, premium quality, fast setting, non-slump/non-slip, white cement based flexible adhesive developed to bond most types of tiles. Data MSDS 10. Grout tiles using the appropriate colour of Polyblend G10 Grout. Polyblend G10 is a high quality, flexible, cement based, coloured grout designed for grouting most types of tiles including ceramic, porcelain, natural stone and glass mosaic. Data MSDS 11. Install Bostik Z Bond 6S Silicone to all perimeter and intermediate movement joints. Z Bond 6S is a one component, non flowing, neutral cure, mid modulus silicone sealant.
