To Use the Viewfinder
The Olympus PEN EE embodies on Extro Bright
Luminous Frome Finder, Perfect composition is
eosy. Simply ploce the subiect motter in the
center of the f ro me. The PEN EE finder is so
constructed thot regordless of the position of
your eye, the subiect will be centered. The
f ro me limits o re within the white outline shown
in the finder. For oction shots, wotch the sublect
o nd click the shutter when su biect is within the
white frome.
Autontolic Ef ectric Eye
An ultro-sensitive built-in efectric eye surrounds
the lens. This electric eye sets the f/sfop for
o perfect exposure regordless of the light
conditions. Simply point the comero ot the
subiect
(bV
looking through the viewfinder ot
the subiect), the eye gothers the light, sets the
f/stop, ond ollows o perfect picture by simply
releosing the shutter.
lf the light is too bright or too dull, it is
impossible to moke on exposure. As you look
lhrough the viewfinder you see o red flosher
comes up when the exposure will not be per-
fect. lf you see this red signol, simply moye
the subiect to on oreo thot hos more light.
The electric eye ond red flosher operotes
oulomoticolly ot oll ASA film speed selting os
shown on the ASA ring in white numbers.

At the rote of oboul I complete turn per second,
turn the rewind cronk until you feel the tension
suddenly disoppeor. Then turn the rewind cronk
o few more times, ond the film con be removed

Adyontoges of the D. ZUIKO Wide Angle lens
One of the moior reosons for toking pictures is to record life os it exists. The
comero lens is like our eyes. We wont to put on film whot our eyes see. Our
eyes con look
qt
o newspopr, or o person
qcross
the toble, or three miles
owoy, ond they will oll be shorp to us. lf something very close ond
yery
for
is shorp to us ot the some time-like our eyes see things-it is colled greot
" depth of fteld ". Our eyes hove o greot depth of field.
The lenses found on mosf ordinory comeros do NOT hove o greot depth of
field. But the D. ZUIKO lens on the Olympus PEN hos one of the greotest
depth of flelds in existence. To prove this, moke o photogroph of o neor
obiect,
q
middle obiect ond o for-owoy obiect in the some picture.
The
Olympus PEN will get them ALL shorp ot the some time, JUST AS OUR EYES
WOULD SEE IT.
(To be doubly sure, use the highest numbered f/stop whenever possible.l

Depth of Field
Remember thqt Depth of Fiefd INCREASES os you use o ftgure f/stop. Remem-
ber olso thot subiects do not suddenly become f vzzy if they o re outside the
depth of field. Obiects groduolly lose first o little shorpness, then more
shorpness the further they get outside the depth of field. For simple operotion,
ond for the most sho rpness, use the higher numbered f/stops whenever possible.
Since the PEN EE is o fully oufomotic comero, use the fostest oyoiloble ftlm
lhqf you con. This will give you o higher ASA setting, ond the comero wilf
outomoticolly give you shorper pictures due to
q
greoter depth of field.
Shorp enlorgement in size of 4t' x 6+" is ossured ot ony distonce further thot
5 feef f rom the subiect. lf on enlorgement more thon l}'t X 12" is required,
use o distonce longer lhon 7 feet fo the subiect.
