Brochure
Description: Date:
A two sided (duplex) folding brochure. March 29, 2014
Course/Instructor:
Cory Kerr
Program(s)/Tools: Objectives:
Inform those who want to attend the Orange County Zoo and see the rescued species that have been brought in and are being nurtured back to their original health.
Process:
For my brochure, I first had to choose a color scheme which I used to incorporate into my logo as well as the body of my design. I created a personalized logo which I designed using the blob brush which I hand drew and filled in. Then I had to find images that would best represent the theme of my project which is a zoo that is placed right next to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, CA. I then had to make the right measurements so that it would fold right with my tab on the right hand side. Next, using the pen tool I made the shapes that I placed in to create a free vibe, and then texted wrapped my message into these designs. For the back, I took a zoo map from the internet and I created my own personalized title that I place over the original logo they had.
Montage
Description:
A montage of five pictures blended together to make it as one image, and the use of typography added in.
Date:
Course/Instructor:
Cory Kerr
Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Photoshop
Objectives:
I wanted to convey my passion for books and reading. I wanted to give it a more vintage look that would give it a more warm cozy feeling like you get when you are snuggled up with a good story.
Process:
I went and found the pictures that I wanted to use to convey my message. I selected the book with a heart image and used it as my background that I would overlap my other images into and blend them in. I then put on the lassoed image of the clock and put on a mask. With a smaller black brush, I blended the picture in with different levels of opacity and flow. I repeated the process with the flower, lassoing it in and then blending it against the page. Then I dragged each image of the light text writing in the right top corner as well as the quote that I placed over it, masking so I could blend them as well. I added decorative font in last to tie in the rest of my message of how books bring imagination.
Business Card

Date:
February 28, 2014
Course/Instructor:
Cory Kerr
Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Illustrator, InDesign
Objectives: Process:
The process began doing sketches of how I wanted to format business cards where they both would compliment each other as well as have the necessary information to promote my personalized company. Then in Adobe Illustrator I set up my format to make the front and back of my cards. I wanted them bright and noticeable so I chose my color scheme that would suit best for the design I had in mind. I layered boxes on top of each other, and chose font over the boxes that had the shape of a book. Then for the back of the business card, I free handed the image of the book by using the blob brush to give it a loose, free feel that you get when you get lost in a good story.
Logos
Description: Date:
Three logo variations for the same company. February 21, 2014
Course/Instructor:
Cory Kerr
Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Illustrator
Objectives: Process:
To begin, I chose something that I love to do, and that is to read so I decided to make logos for my own personal books. I sketched out a few ideas to get my design planned out into what I wanted to display and chose a color scheme that would best compliment what I wanted to capture. I than used the blob brush tool, and by free hand, I drew the book worm as well as the whole logo for the bottom one. Than I chose different typography that I felt best suited my design. For the middle logo, I used the arrow keys to space out the word books.
Letterhead

Course/Instructor:
Cory Kerr
Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe Illustrator, InDesign
Objectives:
To promote my future company as an writer and author.
Process:
For the stationary, I tied my elements from my business cards back into the paper so that it would represent and look like it was from the same business. I kept it simple with basic information at the top, and then at the bottom of the right corner, I free handed another image of a book with the blob brush again. Then to fade it, I changed the opacity to 30% so that it would be able to be written over.
Web Page

Course/Instructor:
Cory Kerr
Program(s)/Tools:
TextWrangler, Photoshop
Objectives:
To reach out to those who love to read, create, or to write for all the fellow book lovers out there.
Process:
I created this web page using only TextWrangler. I had never seen or written any HTML/CSS. It was a challenge since is such a different program then what we have been working and learning about all semester. After I marked up all my content and inserted my image, I attached a pre-made CSS document to my HTML. I then chose colors in Photoshop that I had used in my logo, and used the eyedropper so I could create the same exact color scheme of split complementary. I then used the documents to go back in forth, changing the web page into the image I had in mind. I change the fonts, the placement of the logo as well as my text on what I wanted to say about my message and the process of using the CSS document and my HTML.
Event Ad
Description:
It is full bleed, scanned image, using Microsoft Word, sponsoring a benefit event.
Date:

Course/Instructor:
Cory Kerr
Program(s)/Tools:
converter)
Objectives:
I am doing a fundraiser by doing a bake sale, where the funds from the donations that are brought will be used to renovate the Senior Center.
Process:
I scanned an image of muffins from the magazine Better Homes and Gardens. The image I had initially planned to use for my ad had too many niches and wrinkles that were showing up into the scanner so I then had to change my image. Once I found my image, I cropped it, and put it into Microsoft Word where I made it bleed out to all corners of the page. Then I used white text to make my message stand out, as well as adding a black, transparent box behind my events information so that that you could see the words better.

Program(s)/Tools:
Adobe InDesign
Objectives:
I am trying to reach recent graduates, who are interested in the next step in their lives, and want to develop leadership skills that will be a qualified aspect in the fields of business.
Process:
Before starting my project, I did several sketches to plan out my ideas for the flier, and then chose which one I thought would compliment the best theme for my message I wanted to portray. With my best sketch, I created the layout in Adobe InDesign. I used black boxes to provide contrast in my white space, as well as different typography that would be professional as well as appealing to the eye. I used white font on a black text box for my title in order to make it bold and more eye catching. I made sure to align my text throughout to create a respectful rhythm. I used the image, logo, and content for this flier that was provided for me.
Imaging
Description:
A photo that I took with a blurred background, and then had to edit and cropped in Photoshop.
Date:
February 6, 2014
Course/Instructor:
Cory Kerr
Program(s)/Tools:
Camera, Photoshop
Objectives:
My goal for this assignment was to develop skills in photography and with Photoshop. I explored different scenery, and focused on the different compositions in order to add more interest and technique to my images. I got to build my knowledge with using a camera and with editing.
Process:
The process began first with taking the pictures at different angles and compositions, and then finding the right lighting as I adjusted my focus. Then after taking all my pictures, I took them to Photoshop and used the basic elements of fixing the vibrance, highlights, saturation, and the coloring. I did this editing to each of the pictures until I thought they were complimented to their best features.
