FLO-GROUT 1

TECHNICAL DATA SHEET PUBLISHED AUGUST 2011

General purpose cementitious grout

PRODUCT FEATURES
Flo-grout 1 is a single pack, high strength, non-shrink, cementitious grout. Flo-grout 1 consists of a blend of modified special cements and fine graded aggregates. It is free from corrosive substances and chlorides. Flo-grout 1 has excellent flow properties and has a positive expansion during setting. It is designed for gap widths of 10 100mm, but may be bulked out for wider gaps. The expansion and strength properties of Flo-grout 1 make it ideal for the assembly grouting of machine beds, tracks, crane rails and transformers. The material is also suitable for grouting of stanchion bases, struts, railings and guardrail assemblies

STORAGE
Protect from frost and store under dry warehouse conditions at a temperature between 10C and 30C. When stored as above, and used within 6 months of the date shown on the packaging, the activity of the reducing agent added will be maintained and the mixed product will contain no more than 0.0002% (2ppm) soluble chromium (VI) on the total dry weight of the cement.

SHELF LIFE
12 months in unopened bags and stored under good conditions.

COVERAGE
A 25 kg bag using 4.1 litres of clean water will yield approx. 13.3 litres.

SPECIFIED THICKNESS RANGE

10 100mm in a single layer. For greater thicknesses 2 6mm washed and dried pea gravel should be added to the Flo-grout 1 at 1:1 by weight.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS SURFACE PREPARATION

The substrate should be sound, clean and free from contamination. Concrete and steel surfaces should be mechanically etched to ensure good bonding. Removable metal shims should be lightly coated with suitable release oil or grease. Pre-soak the concrete surface with clean water for a minimum of 4 hours before grouting. All surplus water must be removed before grouting.

WORKING TIME
Following mixing, material should be placed within 30 minutes to gain the full benefit of the expansion system.

CURING
All exposed surfaces must be adequately cured. The use of Setseal 6 curing agent is recommended. Alternatively wet hessian or continuous fine water spray may be used. Shuttering should be struck after 24 hours. If the air temperature has fallen below 5C, shuttering should be left in place for at least 36 hours. Do not place when the substrate temperature is below 5C or when the ambient temperature is 5C and falling. Protect from frost. Do not exceed the maximum recommended water content and only use clean water. The use of warm water is recommended at low temperatures to accelerate strength development. At elevated temperatures, the use of cold water is recommended.

MIXING
The following water additions should be used depending on the required consistency: Flowable: Fluid: 4.1 litres per 25 kg bag 4.4 litres per 25 kg bag

1 - 2 bags of material should be slowly added to the measured quantity of water whilst mixing using a slow speed drill and power whisk. Mix for 3 - 5 minutes. Allow to stand for 1 minute before use. Larger quantities should be mixed using a high shear mixer. Do not mix more material than can be used in 30 minutes. Do not use colloidal type mixers.

CLEANING
Wash tools with water immediately after use.

APPLICATION
Flo-grout 1 can be applied normally at temperatures between 5C and 35C. Good concreting practice with regard to placing at low and high temperatures should be observed. For machine base plate grouting, ensure that all bolt pockets are fixed before grouting between substrate and base. Continuous grout flow is essential. Sufficient material must be available to ensure continuity of the operation. Pouring should be from one side of the base plate to eliminate the entrapment of air. The pouring side should be raised by means of a hopper or grout box to maintain a minimum 150mm head of grout at all times. For larger applications Flo-grout 1 can be placed by means of pumping. The use of a heavy-duty diaphragm pump is suitable for this purpose. Please contact our Technical Department for further advice.
