To Engage an Engine
Once started in ECR takes 5 Min to start Then usually another 5 to connect and take a load. To start 1 POD you need 2 Engines online To start a 2nd POD, or 1 Pod and thrusters you must have two engines online, once you have control they can turn off the 2nd engine. On the Valmarine the engine will turn green when started, the breakers will turn green when engaged and the azipod will turn green when connected.

To Disengage an Engine
One engine must be online at all times for ships power. If we are switching from 4 DEs to 3 DEs; 3 DEs to 2 DEs or 2 DEs to 1 DE; you must de-load the engines from the current load % to a load % which allows an engine to be disengaged and the other engines not to exceed their max Load %. Lets say we are on 4 engines and we want 3 engines: - Using the Above Engine Operational Limits Table, you can take the number of engines you want 3 and times it by its max Engine load, which is 83%. - (3 x 83%=249%) so if you have 4 engines online, 249% / 4 = 62%, which means you must bring the load of the 4 engines below 62%, this way when one engine is turned off, the other 3 will not go above 83%.(using this its better to go another 1 or 2 % below what you calculate).

1. Crash Stop (Full Astern) 1. Immediately switch to wheel Mode 2. Press Slow ramp(to lower RPM immediately) 3. Pull Levers to full astern - The traditional crash stop is moving the levers to full astern. This does work, but the time and distance it takes the Reflection to stop is almost double that of reversing the Pods to 180 2. Crash Stop (POD way) 1. Immediately switch to Maneuvering Mode (Power will automatically reduce from 17.5 MW to 9 MW) 2. Angle Pods 35 to 45 Inwards 3. Steering MODES To change the steering modes, double tap on the mode of your choice, green light indicates in use. 1. Maneuvering (Lever/Lever) Makes each POD independent in azimuth Command. (If sync Command is activated in maneuvering mode, then one POD can be the Master). Levers can be controlled at the center console or from the wings. 2. Autopilot 1/ Autopilot 2 the Autopilot or trackpilot system, we have two autopilots, these must be engaged in order to run the trackpilot and its functions. 3. Wheel To engage the helm for handsteering, we have to double press the Wheel button from the Common Panel and then the helmsman has to press the Wheel Take pushbutton next to the helm. The ship can then be steered in the traditional fashion of helm orders, with hard to port./stbd at 35. 4. Mini Wheel is just that the mini wheel, it can be used the same as the wheel - instead of using a helmsman the officer can steer by turning it. It can be controlled from the center console or from the wings.

The Take Here Button is used to take command at each location; the location in command can be seen by the green lighted lamps above the take button. The locations are the center console, port or stbd bridge wing and then locally from the ECR 5. NFU It is more likely a backup plan for steering the ship. To engage the NFU, all we have to do is to push the button Backup Selection above each tiller. The tillers are located on the port and stbd of the helm. The best way to stair with these is to keep one steady and turn with only one.

This is what you would type in the speed pilot for lever

These are the marks on the levers

1. LEVER: the levers on the Pods can be moved to control the RPMS. On the PODS the middle lever mark is 0, and only multiples of 2 are written, 0 through 10. The amount of RPMS you will receive for each lever position is fixed and you can move the levers and get a single rpm up or down. 2. SPEED PILOT: The system works best in Speed Pilot. In the Multipilot an optional function of the TRACKPILOT. The SPEEDPILOT is a speed controller with which is a alternative to the Manual operation of the levers, - In Set Lever mode it is possible to set a fixed lever, using the AP Lever above, like 2.36. - In Set Speed mode it is possible to set a fixed speed, - In Set RPM mode it is possible to set a fixed RPM- this is the mode we use on Reflection. With the speed pilot menu you have the ability to control the RPMS with greater accuracy. In the RPM Mode you can move by one RPM or 0.1 Rpm at a time. To keep the engines operating as close to the limit as possible you will be changing the Rpms in tenths, such 118.6 to 118.4. - In Profile mode the ship can be made to sail with a fixed speed-profile stored for the pre-planned track during the speed/time planning - In Arrival mode, the Arrival Speed computed by the system can be specified as the set speed which makes the ship reach the desired destination at the planned time of arrival (if permitted by the external conditions). Slow Ramp: is the ships load program - when activated it increases or decreases the rpms, 0.07rpms/sec (= aprox. 4 rpms every minute), to make it a smoother operation for the engines. The system works at 58RPMs and above. When the RPM reference is made less than 58RPM, it automatically disengages itself and reduces immediately. Power Limitation: this yellow light will illuminate on the Azipod control unit, when the power limitation of the engines is met, this is on 4DE only and ranges between 72 to 75%. Also there is a second Power limitation on the Azipod's themselves. They are limited to a Max 90% torque. When this is met the light will not show, but you have reached the maximum on the engines.

RPM LEVER Green = Positive RPM Red = Negative RPM

- The Azipod can be rotated 360. - During normal operations in wheel, mini wheel mode the azipod is limited to 35 Port/Stbd. - In maneuvering Mode by rotating the pod to right the ship will turn to port; to left the ship will move to the stbd.

Basic Azipod Theory

The Azipod's are tractor or pulling Azipod's. The propeller is located on the front of the POD when the vessel is moving forward. With low or no ships speed, the most effective way to turn the ship is by making an L shaped angle of the pods. See the above diagram. The wash from one pod is pushed to the open and not on the other maximizing the amount of thrust from the pods. There are numerous ways, angles and thrust settings with the Azipod's and all are dependent on the current conditions at the time of use. The below diagram are a few other simple ways to use the Pods.
When the pods are together

Best way to turn the ship at low or no speed.

The Azipods are designed to run with positive motion and you will always get the most thrust when using
Celebrity Reflection Bridge Officers Booklet 2012 - 2013

- 14 -

positive rpms. Negative rpms or backing can be done, but you shouldnt do it above 4 knots of speed. Also unless its an emergency you should never put the wash of one POD on the other.
Manoeuvring with low speed ~2 ~4kts. (docking/undocking) Negative RPMs allowed Position keeping (anchoring, DP) Negative RPMs allowed Channel keeping or approach to pilot station Occasionally allowed Normal Service Speed

Negative RPMs NOT recommended

The Effectiveness of the Azipod thrust can be seen in the below diagram. The area in-between the two Pods is an area of the ships hull called the skeg. It block the thrust of the two pods in the area, also the pods themselves block the effectiveness of the other pod if the wash is pushed onto another pod. Beside the fact that you are not receiving the full power of the thrust of the pods at these angles, for the health of the Azipods it is recommended to never push the wash of one pod on the other, unless it is an emergency.

There are three bow thrusters on Reflection, the main controls are located on the center console, but they can be started or stopped on the wings as well. They are controllable pitch propellers 3 meters in diameter. There is a separate gauge that reads the % pitch of the propellers. The physical controls are run in % Pitch from 0 % to 110%. To reach the maximum 110% you must double tap the 110% selected button. To Start 1. Double tap the Hydraulic ON button. 2. When the hydraulic on green Lamp is lit, you can now double tap the Motor ON. 3. Now monitor the MW indicator for the pod, it should increase to full and then come back down. 4. You now can move on and start the remaining thrusters. To Stop 1. Double tap the Motor OFF 2. Double Tap the Hydraulic OFF

There are 5 Multipilots and 1 slave. Multipilots 1, 2, 3 and slave 4/5 are located in the center console. Multipilots 4 and 5 are located on the wings. There are two chart/conning pilots, conning pilot 1 is located at the chart table and the other at the center console, there are two slaves on the wings which slave off the center console conning pilot.

MULTIPILOT MODES ARPA Radar All installed X- and S-Band radar units can be operated here. The MULTIPILOT can be switched to act as a master or slave indicator for any radar transceiver.
ECDIS The ECDIS is an electronic chart display, various types of electronic chart, both vector charts and raster charts, can be displayed on the MULTIPILOT on the chart area of the ECDIS mode. In this display mode the planned routes, the own ship symbol, the AIS targets and the radar video can be displayed, so that a complete overview of the nautical situation can be seen. The ECDIS uses non approved charts called C-map; approved charts are called ENCs. Chart Radar In the Chart Radar mode, the radar video is combined with the electronic chart (the same as the ECDIS) in such a way that The operator has the normal view and controls of the ARPA Radar mode. Conning Displays On the MULTIPILOT, the required navigation data can be displayed in the form of conning displays for normal sailing (Open Sea display - see the adjacent illustration and Harbour display), for docking maneuvers (Docking display) or for sailing in shallow water (Clearance display), whichever is selected. Autopilot / Track Control System The TRACKPILOT is a track control system, which can also be operated as a conventional autopilot; it is operated through the Multipilot. - In Heading mode without automatic drift-correction which controls the heading of the ship using the Joystick. - In Course mode with automatic drift-correction which will steer any given course over ground using the joystick. - In Track mode the ship can automatically be kept on a pre-planned track with great accuracy. The operating procedure for the TRACKPILOT is completely integrated within the MULTIPILOT, and can take place in all display modes. The total system is called NACOS (Navigation and Command System). The TRACKPILOT can be operated from any Multipilot/radar workplaces of the NACOS, simply by pressing and holding down the TRACKPILOT button will make that station the master. Difference between Heading Mode and Course Mode: In Heading mode, the ship is steered on the entered course without the drift angle being taken into account, in a manner similar to that of a conventional autopilot. The ship drifts away from the track if there are disturbances such as wind and current. The course corrections that are therefore necessary have to be performed manually. In Course mode, the ship is kept on the track with the drift component being taken into account. The course over ground is steered (if the necessary sensor information is available to the system). In Track mode, pre-planned tracks are used. They are defined by waypoints in geographical coordinates and by the radius of the curves along which the ship has to sail when it is changing course.

There are two Gyro compasses onboard, they are made by Sperry Marine and are Fiber optic gyros. Number 1 is located in the STBD wing UPS room and Number 2 in the Port UPS room. There are control units located for each one and a center control unit on the stbd center console. The Gyros are designed with three fiber optic coils inside, aligned on different planes of axis, a sensor inside the unit uses the three coils to measure the rotation of the earth and can compute true north, but it needs to take sensor data from the GPS system (position and speed). Using this information it can find true north at all times, with a maximum gyro error of 0.4 degrees in bad weather condition and 0.1 degrees in normal operating conditions. There are no moving parts inside, and no gyro gimble like old gyros. The unit doesnt require the ship to be swung and doesnt need to have a technician calibrate it. To select which gyro heading to use, you press the grey arrows at the left, the heading selectors. The gyro selected will be highlight with black triangles pointing at it (Like FOG 1 below). If something happens to one gyro, the system will automatically switch to the other.

There are two sensor locations one forward at the bow and the other aft at the stern. The depth can be read off at the main echo sounder control panel, or the Chart/ Multipilots. Both depths can be seen at the echo sounder, but only one can be viewed at a time on the Chart/ Multipilots. Operations: 1. To start, press the red power button and release ->> the unit will start. 2. To stop, press the red button then release - >> the unit will shut off. To switch between the forward and aft sensors, press the button located 2nd from the top, on the right side, it has two waves drawn on it and beneath it, it says Ch A /B. Channel A is the aft sensor and Channel B is the forward one. This will change the sensor being displayed on the Chartpilots, but it may not change until the unit begins reading a depth. If you change to one sensor, but it still says the other, wait; once it has detected the bottom and starts transmitting it will change on the chart pilot.

There are two heeling Tanks onboard the Reflection which can hold 495.7 m3 of fresh water each. They are currently loaded with 480 m3 of water load between the two. Heeling Controls: 1. The first is through the remote switch located next to the fwd Valmarine. By turning the switch to port or stbd, it opens the valve and activates the heeling pump to start. When the desired amount is moved you simple turn it to the off position. 2. The second way is through the Valmarine on the heeling page. In the top right corner it says automatic control, with three buttons: STOP, TO PORT and To STBD. By using the track ball and clicking on ACT, each of these will have the same action as the heeling switch. This function is available at the fwds center console and safety centers Valmarine.

There are two Valmarine on the bridge, one on the center right console and one in the safety center. It is the operating system the ECR uses to control the entire vessels technical equipment. You can see all the vessels tanks, freshwater production, consumption, WTDs, engines, TWW system. There are many pages of data that you can see. The most important are the quick links on the top of the keyboard. All the function keys have systems assigned to them. See the below picture. N.B: the Valmarine takes its sensor information from the same sensors as the Napa stability; the Napa does all the tank calculations, and inputs the volume data. There are three Napa computers: one under the port chart table and two in the safety center; if one shuts off the Valmarine loses its data.

We have two DGPS located above the STBD chart table. The GPS on board is a DGPS with an additional ability of the SBAS System. The System operates with the DGPS system by receiving a signal from beacons on the land that correct the GPS signal, which should increase the accuracy of the position to under 5 meters. The SBAS is similar to the DGPS beacons, only it uses synchronous orbiting satellites to receive a correction; the system was invented for use with airplanes. The GPS can only be corrected by either one, not both. This can be seen on the display by either a DSBAS (SBAS) or a D (DGPS based on external differential corrections). The Reflection is equipped with a Fugro SeaSTAR 3510LR which its not a GPS sensor. This is a DGPS Receiver only and it has increased the detection and range of receiving DGPS beacon signals. The Voice Data Recorder is installed in the STBD equipment room, on the bridge. The system consists of the main unit connected to the wall and it requires a small key, which the Captain has in his office. There is also a pc where you can download and playback files. The capsule is on DK 17 forward. The hard disk capacity of the VDR is 80 GB which can keep NMEA data for about 3 weeks and radar / Multipilot images and audio for 24 hours. The hard drive in the capsule has only 4GB and can keep data for 12 hours only. You can initiate an emergency backup download of the VDR through the NACOS system or you can open the VDR box on the wall and press the red button inside. You can make 10 of these backups; the 11th backup will delete the first one. Emergency Download button

In the Safety Center you have the ability to close remotely all water tight doors. There are 52 water tight doors located on decks 2 and below. See the attached WTD diagram in the Appendix. To close the WTD you have two options: the main way is using the remote control panel located in the portside of the safety center. There is one master switch, also a switch for each fire zone. To close the doors you just turn the switch from local control to doors closed position. Once all doors have been closed you should return the switch to local control (N.B.: you can only close the doors from the bridge, not open them.) The second way to close the doors is using the IMS mimic computer at the same location. Inside are the displays for all the WTD, doors in green are closed and red are open. By right clicking on a door a menu will appear, from which if you select the doors close mode the door will close. There are also alarms that will sound when a WTD is opened, you must select the alarm silence button on the bottom of the screen and then click on the door and click the alarm acknowledge button which will appear in the top right corner; otherwise the alarm will sound again in a few seconds.
